Gregory C. Holmes, Sr. was born on April 14, 1947, in Littleton, New Hampshire and died on January 14, 2024, in Sebring, Florida.

Greg had a deep love for coin collecting, classic cars, and a multitude of sports teams including the Miami Dolphins, Boston Celtics, Chicago Cubs, and the UConn women's basketball team. He enjoyed watching Westerns, especially those with his favorite cowboy, John Wayne. Greg had a love for sports, starting at an early age. This love of sports resulted in Greg being signed by the Chicago Cubs as a pitcher in 1966. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the US Army where he served nearly two years in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star Medal for outstanding meritorious service.

Greg also had a love of working with his hands, which led to a career in carpentry and mechanics. He married Linda Ames in 1969 and they lived in New Hampshire where they raised their son. Greg retired in the early 2000s and moved to Lake Placid, Florida, where he enjoyed spring training games and classic car shows.

We will miss Greg's infectious laughter, his stories of working on his Cadillac, his willingness to give advice at any given moment, and his big heart. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. We love you and we will miss you dad!

Greg is predeceased by his mother, Rita Holmes, his father, Lawrence Holmes, and his former wife, Linda Ames.

He is survived by his son, Gregory C. Holmes Jr., and his daughter-in-law, Concetta Holmes.

Services are to be held in the spring of 2024, the date and time to be announced in the future.
