Greta "Gritts" McCommas Obituary
She was a government employee for over 30 years working at NASA Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland; where she recently began working as a purchasing agent.
A Memorial Service will be arranged at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made in Greta's name to the Salvation Army. Arrangements by the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Greta's family. I was extremely fortunate to know Greta. No matter how she felt, she had a smile on her face and she never complained. She always spoke lovingly about her family. She will always be remembered for her smile and her laugh.

Greta had a way of brightening my day at work and in a personal way. She was always a pleasure to work with in person, email or on the phone. I always meant to ask her about her email signature tag line, "For duty and humanity!" I just looked it up. Thank you Greta for brightening another day.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Ms. Greta. I had the pleasure of working with Greta at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Procurement for the last 3 years. Greta was a wonderful person who was always willing to share anything she had. She had a heart of gold. She was a strong woman who endured a lot but she continued to push forward. I will definitely miss talking to Greta every day. She was my friend. May she rest in Peace.

I was deeply saddened when I heard of Greta's passing. Greta was the procurement agent assigned to most of my purchases at Goddard. I truly loved her! She was smart, accurate and swift. No matter how bad her day was she never lost focus on what she had to do. I will truly miss her and the talks we had. My prayers go out to the family and may they find peace in knowing that Greta is in a better place.

Although I never met Greta in person, I enjoyed speaking with her on the phone. I was glad when Greta was assigned our procurement requests; I knew Greta would get the job done fast and accurately. Greta worked hard and efficiently. Greta was quick to finalize orders, would always call me if there was a problem or if more information was needed. I told my co-workers that if Greta is working on it, it will be completed fast. I often called Greta for advice with problems or questions on orders even if she was not assigned to the purchase. Greta got the job done. I have a great deal of respect for Greta and considered her to be a very smart lady. Greta will be missed. Prayers to her family and friends, Marcy August

Greta and I shared an office many years ago at NASA Goddard. Greta was responsible for helping to start my green thumb and love for growing plants. I thank God of the things she imparted into my life. I pray that God will comfort and heal the McCommas family during your time of bereavement and as each day passes.

Ms. Greta was my neighbor. I will so miss seeing her and our little chats. I know that she is in a better place free of all the pain she was in. My prayers and thoughts are with her family, especially her sister Pat.
