Gunner James "Gun Gun" Garza

"Gun-Gun" (A tribute by Jamie Garza, Gunner's Mother)

Gunner James was born June 1st, 2016 at 4:20 am. He was my only baby who came into this world on his own time schedule, exactly when and how he wanted. He knew I didn't want him to have an emerald birthstone like mine, so he waited until May was over to make his debut. He spent the rest of his life living fully, loving his family fiercely and paving his way through this world exactly how he wanted. Gun Gun came into this world, lived in this world and left this world doing exactly WHAT he wanted (the boy was his momma's child no doubt)

Gun fought fiercely for his life, he fought for hours and hours so he could stay here with his family and in his house, but Jesus had bigger plans for him, and God's kingdom needed his sunshine. Gunner fought to stay alive until his Mom-Mom and Daddy could get there and hold his precious hands. God called our sweet, perfect little boy home on January 29th at 5:40 pm. He died in his mommy's arms with his head and his hands on her chest which were his most favorite and safe place on earth. His daddy was by his side holding his hands and feet.

Gunner James is survived by his mommy, Jamie, and his daddy, Jason, his very best friend and 4-year-old brother Graysen, his sister (and second mom) Kayleigh "Rae-Rae", his oldest brothers Jason and Jadon, and his oldest sister Amberly "Amlee". He is also survived by his Papaw Jim whom he got his middle name from, his Gaga, his Gammy, and numerous other grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, as well as friends we call family and all of his playmates.

We will never understand why God called our precious angel home so soon - his infectious laugh, his constant smile, and his fierce love…not just for his family and friends, but for the ENTIRE WORLD. He saw the skies in a color we can't fathom, he saw the world without evil, his beautiful eyes saw things more vibrant than I ever could. His love for singing "You Are My Sunshine," Monster trucks, Blaze, "flaffels" (waffles), Lightning McQueen, fruit snacks and boob milk is a love like no other. He is not just our sunshine on gray days, he brought the world sunshine every day!!!

He has joined his papaw Duane, his Gaga Pat and his great uncle Wesley in Heaven. Wesley was just 6 and we are confident he is showing him the kingdom, with roads paved of gold and playing in Heaven with Jesus while Pawpaw and Gaga read them books and sing "You Are My Sunshine"

In lieu of flowers, we are asking for toy donations. Gunner's brothers and sister will be taking the donated toys to Memorial Herman Hospital, Texas Children's Hospital and child advocates to continue to spread Gunners sunshine to a child having a gray day! The family will also be setting up a scholarship with Infant Swim Rescue to provide a child in need who lives around water lessons so Gun-Gun can save lives with his own.

Mommy and Daddy love you Gun-Gun to the moon and back and beyond eternity. We will spend our lives spreading your love! Until we meet again my love, please save a place in Heaven for us.
