Hans-Joachim Eilmus Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 29, 2018 to Jan. 2, 2019.
Hans-Joachim Eilmus, age 87 years and 8 months, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve from natural causes.

Hans was born in Blankenstein, Germany, April 25, 1931. He is survived by his loving wife, Hilke (Moller). Hans and Hilke would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on New Year's Eve. Hans immigrated to the United States in the late 1950s as an apprenticed tool and die maker. In 1961, Hans and Hilke settled in Enfield where they have lived and raised their family.

In addition to his wife, Hans leaves behind his three adult children: first born son, Andreas, and his beautiful wife, Virginia; his daughter, Wiebke (Simons), and son-in-law, Jeff; and his youngest son, Niels. What gave Hans that twinkle in his eyes and that extra spark in his step were his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter. With much sadness he leaves behind his grandson, Aaron Simons and wife, Valerie. He leaves behind his financial adviser-grandson, Mathew Simons. He will be sadly missed by his granddaughter, Hannah Simons. Hans leaves behind the youngest of his granddaughters, Ayden and Isa Eilmus. Lastly, he leaves behind his sweet great-granddaughter, Grace Simons. The mention of Grace's name brought a heartwarming smile to Hans' face.

Thank you, Valerie, your commitment to Opa's health and well-being will always be remembered and will always be appreciated. We love you. Thank you, Stephanie, for your comforting words and support. Thank you, Aaron and Mathew, for sharing a beer with your grandfather on Christmas Eve. The beer, the Christmas music, the love of family made this a Christmas Eve to remember.
