Harold Louis Coleman, Sr.

Greenwood, MS

Harold Louis Coleman, Sr. passed away April 21, 2016. Mr. Coleman was 90 years old.

Born on October 24, 1925, in Gholson, Mississippi, Mr. Coleman was an Eagle Scout who proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. As a tribute to his military service, his name is on the Roll of Honor at The National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Following his military service, he graduated from Mississippi State University in 1949 where he was on the National Livestock Judging Team.

Since 1955, Mr. Coleman was a resident of Leflore County, and spent his life as a farmer and cattleman. He served as President of the Mississippi Cattlemen's Association, and President of the Mississippi Sheep Producers Association.

A Deacon of the Schlater Baptist Church since 1957, he faithfully taught the Boys Sunday School Class for 30 years, and ministered generously to the needs of his community.

Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Faye Coleman, his daughter Debby Thompson (Larry), his son Hal Coleman, Jr. (Kathy), seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home Saturday, April 23rd at 2 PM. Visitation will be from 12:30-2 PM preceding the services. Burial will be at McNutt Cemetery, Schlater, Mississippi.
