Harold L Sewell, Jr.

Harold L. Sewell, Jr. died at home on July 27, 2023. He was 87 years old. Harold knew what he wanted, made his dreams happen, loved deeply, and truly lived the life he wanted.

Born April 21, 1936 in his Grandmother's house in Carthage, MO, to Harold Sewell, Sr., and best friend and mother, Dorothy Marie Sewell. Harold grew up on a farm where he learned to tend crops, fish, ride, raise cattle, and work machinery. On this fertile land, he developed an appreciation for hard, honest work, a love of the land, and a quest for adventure. He learned the value of devotion and how to love, which he expressed through his life. He was educated through high school in a one room schoolhouse in Carthage, MO, and graduated in 1954.

Immediately after graduation he began a career in the military, serving 8 years in the United States Navy and United States Air Force, acquiring the training to become an A&P mechanic. He initially served on the USS Lexington CVA-16 and sailed a 6 month deployment in a Far East tour. When the USAF stationed him at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona in 1959, he knew his retirement destination would be near Phoenix, AZ.

After serving in the military, he went back to his hometown in Missouri and continued working with his father's family trucking business. In 1967 Harold was hired by TWA (Trans World Airlines), where he was employed for 25 years. He always had a smile on his face, a prank developing in his mind, and a thorough knowledge of TWA's engines.

Harold retired at age 56 and spent the next 31 years of his life doing what brought him joy. He lived in a resort styled home he built at the base of the mystical Superstition Mountains, invested in properties, occasionally drove construction trucks, became a super Nascar fan, traveled in his RV across the nation, showed his 1956 pickup and 1957 T-Bird (original owner) in local car shows, toured Route 66 with friends, and cruised the neighborhood on his ATV with his super sweet Chihuahua, Tamy.

Harold was preceded in death by his father, Harold, Sr. and mother, Dorothy Marie. He is survived by his brother, Bob; two sons, Todd and Randy; two grandchildren Randy, Jr. and Kristina; five great grandchildren; and his companion, Sandi.

If you knew Harold, you knew all about his favorite girl, Tamy. She was his friend, sidekick, and furry, sweet, friendly Chihuahua. Tamy went everywhere with him.
