Harry Harper Beeman, orig­ inally of Indianapolis, Indiana, peacefully passed .at home on February 15, 2018, at the age of 95 Y2. Born to Oliver Goldstone Beeman and Agnes Gillespie Beeman on August 23, 1922, Harry was the middle of 3 children. He was a proud Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific for the entire war as a gunner's mate on the destroyer the USS Ellet. He was also a Captain of the Indi­ anapolis Fire Department, retiring after a 30 year career. His heroic life was spent in service to others.
Mr. Beeman is predeceased by his parents; his older brother, John Beeman; his first wife, Rosella "Jean" Beeman; and his second wife, Velma Geral­ dine "Gerry" Beeman. He is survived by his younger sister, Mildred Costello; his wife of 42 years, Barbara Beeman; his son, Michael Harry Beeman (Kim); his daughters, Bambi Jean Dunlap, and Emily Elizabeth Smoyer (Josh); and his stepchildren, John Jay Mur­ ray (Katt), and Catherine Dickey (Mark). He leaves behind a legacy of 10 grandchildren: Steven Kappus, Carrie Erwin Lamb, Erik Beeman, Noah Smoyer, Willow Grace Smoyer, Jacob Dickey, Samuel Dickey, Julia Murray, Lauren Rodriguez, and Josiah Murray; as well as 6 great grandchildren: Kabrina Hammel, Payton Lamb, Myah Kappus, Charlotte Beeman, Iace Dickey, and Aurora Rodriguez.

Just had the pleasure of viewing YouTube video of your service to our country during WWII on the USS Ellet. Wish I had had a chance to meet you In person, shake your hand and thank you for service. What an amazing life of service. Your presentation and dialog was mesmerizing. Rest In Peace Harry. Hoping you are a new life journey traveling the universe on modern day version of USS Ellet.
