Harry "Jay" Dymond II Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 26, 2024.
Harry "Jay" Dymond II, 76, of Winter Garden, FL, - our dearly beloved 'Pop', 'Unc', 'Jay' - auto mechanic, tool distributor, and enthusiastic racing fan, went home to his Lord and Savior on April 18, 2024. He fought a long battle with Parkinson's and passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Jay was born July 13, 1947, in Moscow, PA, and moved to Florida in 1953 with his parents and three sisters: Barbara, Beverly, and Bonnie. He attended Northeast High School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and soon after became a devoted father to his children, son John Jay Dymond (57) of Birresborn, Germany and his wife Brigitte, and daughter Jennifer Dymond (55) of St. Cloud, Florida. During those early days, Jay was a volunteer fireman and worked at the local gas station where he developed his love for mechanics, customer service, and cars. If spare time allowed, he joined his friends surfing and hanging out at the beach.

Jay is survived by his wife, Marsha, of 18 years, and her two daughters, Lisa Thompson (49) of Groveland, FL, and Beth Lucci (47), of Highland Heights, OH. Jay met Marsha at an office party in 2003 and they married two years later. Together, they shared a passion for NASCAR, motorcycles, drag racing, dancing, and country music, making friends along the way. As a successful Matco Tool Distributor in Orange and Lake Counties, Jay grew his business to over 300 customers per week, including many furry friends who would board his truck for a Milk-Bone. He and Marsha were active members of Clermont HOG, riding with them for over ten years. They enjoyed RVing and camping and finding new campgrounds during their adventures. They loved the outdoors, sitting by the fire, sunsets, nature, and the mountains. Their enthusiasm for racing knew no bounds. From the high-octane thrills of drag racing to the roaring engines of NASCAR, Jay was a lifelong aficionado; together they never missed a Daytona 500 race until Parkinson's claimed his love of exploration, he spent his last years puttering in his shed, rearranging his beloved tools and equipment.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents Harry Jay and Dorothy Rebecca (Appleby) Rainville, and sisters Beverly Ruth Kilduff, and Barbara Dorothy Shaw. He is survived by his sister Bonnie Mueller, and her husband Fred of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Jay leaves behind seven beautiful grandchildren: Yvonne Dymond (43), Anthony Pagan (29), Jameson Pagan (27), Morgan Sacks (26), Breanna Lucci (24), Marlee Sacks (24), Jacob Lucci (17), along with seven cherished great-grandchildren: Calvin Blau (15), Lea-Sophie Blau (11), Raelynn, Lyla, Harper, Scarlett, and Jaime.

A celebration of Jay's life will be held at the Church of the Messiah located at 241 N. Main Street, in Winter Garden, FL, on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Parkinson's Research through The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (michaeljfox.org) or the Orange County Animal Services (orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net).

I was so lucky to have a Grandpa Jay. I got to spend a lot of my childhood living right across the street from him. I think I spent more time at his house than mine. As I got older he never missed a week of talking to me even when I lived across the country. We never missed a birthday (we have the same one). And as he got older, he never missed an opportunity to tell me to stretch his legs. I think I have more of his qualities than I ever realized, and I am thankful that is the case. Grandpa was a great man with a kind heart and a love for adventure. I hope I can honor him and keep his spirit alive in that same way. I love you and I miss you, but I know you´re always with me. I got the birthdays for us from now on.

Jay and I watched auto racing together on the tv in the waiting room at Broward General while we were waiting for Morgan to be born.
