Harry Peck

Harry F. Peck lived a life full of music, adventure, and love-for his family, his friends, his teams (Go Marquette! Go Pack, Go!), and, of course, his many dogs. He passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving us with memories of his wisdom, wit, sharp sense of humor, and a singing voice that could jolt you out of your seat.

Born to Patricia Holdorf and Harry Peck, Harry spent his early years in Milwaukee, attending Marquette High School, Marquette University, and eventually Marquette Law School, graduating in 1961. Before beginning his long and distinguished legal career, he was a professional singer, and his powerful voice became a staple at Marquette basketball games, where he proudly sang the national anthem before tip-off. Within the family, he was also known for spontaneously breaking into opera when you least expected it-sometimes at the perfect moment, sometimes just to get a reaction.

In 1995, he traded Wisconsin's long, cold winters for the quiet beauty of Tubac, Arizona, where he fully embraced his love of the outdoors. Whether running, hiking, or simply wandering with his dogs, he found peace in nature. His favorite indoor sport was Bridge. As a very accomplished and devoted player, he approached the game with enthusiasm and a sharp strategic mind. Never one to sit on the sidelines, he was also deeply engaged in his community, often sharing his thoughts in the local editorial pages-because if something was worth saying, Harry was going to say it.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Carey, and his children: Steven (Heather), Christopher (Patty), Douglas, Veronica Horn, and Michele. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Alexander, Connor, and Brandon. He also leaves behind his brother, James, and nephew, James Jr.

A celebration of his life will be held in Milwaukee at a later date. In honor of his lifelong compassion for both people and animals, memorials and donations can be made to the American Heart Association or your local animal shelter.

Harry was a man of strong principles, quick wit, and an unforgettable presence. He will be deeply missed-but never forgotten.
