Harry Sully Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 3 to Dec. 10, 2003.
Harry "Sul" Sully, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died peacefully on November 28, 2003, after 83 years of what he often described as "a wonderful life". Born December 26, 1919 in Berkeley, California, he attended school in San Francisco. He remembered most fondly summers with his brother, George, on the Russian River at their parents' Monte Rio resort. He was proud to have served in the Pacific with U.S. Navy SeaBees during World War II. He attended the University of California at Davis and in 1947, married Lois Wells. They moved to Bellevue with their three daughter, Monica, Stephanie, and Linda, in 1961. With his outgoing personality and ability to engage anyone in conversation, he was a successful Sales Manager for Remington Rand Electric Shavers until founding C&M Interiors in the 1970s. Sul was an active member of the Lions Club for more than 40 years and a charter member of the local East Hills Lions Club. He served in every leadership position and was especially involved with the Library for the Blind and the Youth Exchange Program to promote international friendships. "Mr. Sully" will be fondly remembered by those he chaperoned on the ski school bus and joked with at school dances and senior parties. A lifelong learner, he most recently enjoyed being an instructor with SeniorNet, sharing with others his appreciation of new technology and socializing. While his interests changed throughout his life, Harry loved dancing with his wife, golfing with his buddies, teaching his children and grandchildren to swim, and cheering at soccer matches and UW football games. An avid reader, he shared stories, jokes, cartoons and e-mails with friends and family. Harry will be greatly missed by Lois, his wife of 57 years. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Stephanie (Bill) Hedrick of Auburn, Linda (Steve) Peters of California, Dennis Stover of Camano Island, grandchildren Jeremy, Joshua, Kyle, Arianna and Quinlin, and all those who remember him for his quick smile and hearty laugh. Interment will be during a private family service at Tahoma National Cemetery. A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, December 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, 1215- 145th Pl. S.E., Bellevue. The family requests that memorial gifts be made in his name to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America. (www.myasthenia.org) or your favorite charity.

Dear Lois, Stephanie, Bill, Jeremy, and Josh,

Although I never got to really got to know Harry, I do have an idea of the positive impact he made here. Although his life on Earth was just a temporary assignment from the Lord, preparing him for his real home in heaven; I know that his loss is tough.

I remember his great sense of humor, and that he always made me feel special when I visited with him. I also know that he and Lois must have done something right to raise three wonderful daughters. I thank God for Harry's life.

Sincerely yours,

Brandon Wentzel

A big guy with a big heart, that sure was Harry. Just as a child's pebble causes waves to ripple as far out as the eye can see, the waves Harry made wherever he went will forever ripple in many hearts. And, I'll bet, farther out into the world than he himself

would have imagined. --Ray Hansen
