Hazel Hatcher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 12, 2012.
Hazel Mae Hatcher went to meet her Lord and Savior on September 12, 2012 at the age of 92. She was born in Haslem, Texas, on April 12, 1920, to Bertha Mae Caskey Michael and Peter Hampton Michael and lived in Dayton, Texas, until she moved to Pasadena in 1954. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Holloway, her son-in-law, Keith Holloway, her grandson, Kelan Holloway, her two great-grandchildren, Kalyn and JD Holloway, and her son, Troy Hatcher. Her husband, Harry E. Hatcher, preceded her in death in 1983. Hazel worked for Dayton ISD and Pasadena ISD for 44 years until she retired in 1990. She taught 4th grade until she became a counselor at Thompson Intermediate, then Dobie High School and later at Pasadena High School. It thrilled her to be able to get college scholarships for her seniors. After her retirement, she and her college roommate spent time in New York running the Baptist Book Store as missionaries. She was a Christian, a faithful servant to her Lord, and an active member at South Main Baptist Church. A Celebration of Hazel's Life will be held Friday, September 14, 2012. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena. Dr. Ron Lyles will officiate the service at 2 p.m. at Palms Memorial Cemetery in Dayton, Texas, where she will be laid to rest beside of husband, Harry E. Hatcher.
