Hazel Forton Moore of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away on January 26, 2023. Hazel was born in Baltimore Maryland on February 18, 1929. She moved to Norfolk VA at the age of twelve and graduated from Norview High School in 1946, where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. She married Al Moore, Sr. in 1948. They lived in Norview until 1966, at which time they moved to Chesapeake. They lived there until 2016. She worked at C&P Telephone Company as an occasional employee in the 1950s and 1960s. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred J. Moore, Sr., her parents Jesse and Lillian Forton, and brothers Jesse, Harold, and Arthur Forton. She is survived by her son, Alfred J. Moore Jr and his wife Norma, daughter Terry Trammell, grandchildren Tina Price (Kenny), Joshua Barnes (Katie), Matthew Barnes (Dana), Kevin Moore (Katie) and six great-grandchildren.

For the past seven years, Hazel resided at The Gardens of Virginia Beach. The family extends their appreciation for the affection and support provided by the staff and other residents of the facility. They gave Hazel many happy years.

A visitation and viewing will be held on Monday, February 6th from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 7th at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery 8100 Granby Street Norfolk, VA. Following the burial service, family and friends will proceed to a reception at the home of Alfred Moore, Jr.

I new Hazel from the early 50's Husband Al Moore was a great baseball player his cousin Av Foster and I grew up together and saw a lot of both of them Also later on in life I was a I member of St Peters Church an saw them ever Sunday What a wonderful person she was Al junior my prayer's are with you
