Hector Escalante, 71, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 23, where he was welcomed by the Lord; his parents, Adolfo Perez Escalante and Juanita Garza Escalante; brother, Alejandro Escalante and granddaughter, Ava Celeste Escalante. Hector was born on October 24, 1941 in La Mesa, Texas. He proudly served our country in the United States Army and completed two years of college at LSU during his enlistment. Hector worked as an Electric Serviceman for CPL/AEP for over 32 years until his retirement. During his retirement he also did Hotshot work for Peak Oilfield Service Company and was currently very proud of his job as a driver for the US Veteran Affairs. Hector was an honorable and honest man who was committed to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker who loved to help everyone in his community and enjoyed working in the open fields and with his livestock. He appreciated his friendships and coffee time with his buddies. He did anything he could to make sure his children and grandchildren had a connection to the ranching lifestyle that he relished so much, including planting and growing whatever he could get his green thumb on. He was truly loved by his family and will be missed dearly. Left behind to cherish his memories are Hector’s wife, Irene Hinojosa Escalante of Falfurrias, Texas; sons, Hector (Melissa) Escalante, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas and Aaron (Victoria) Escalante of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter, Clarissa Escalante Garza of San Antonio, Texas; brothers Emilio (Norma) Escalante of Encino, Texas and Oscar Escalante of Falfurrias, Texas; sister, Aurora Garcia of Encino, Texas; six grandchildren, Isabella, Esteban and Olivia Rae Escalante, Patrick Burke, Katalina and Carlos Garza and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias.
Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.

Hello Irene,
Your gracious and joyous spirit is embedded in my heart and mind. You bring a smile and a warmth to my heart as I recall the wonderful times we shared - Sulema's Place, card games, Easter, great barbecue, and lots of laughter. In fact, every time I dice a tomato I think of you - you taught me how slice it perfect. I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. I pray our gracious Lord restore your soul, shepherd your family, grant you strength in your weakness, and shield you in His love and peace.

Irene,
I have such fond and cherished memories of you and Hector in my childhood years! Both of you were such vital people in my childhood. Our families shared alot of laughter and tears together for many, many years!! It brings such a smile and warmth to my heart thinking of these memories. Please know that I will cherish both of you and those memories in my heart forever. That love, goodness, and friendship both of you shared with me and my family, created a bond that will last my lifetime whether you are in this world or whether you have gone on, like Hector and my mother, to be with our Father in His heavenly realm. Sometimes when there are no words, there are only tears. May God bless you with peace that surpasses all understanding and may our Heavenly Father continue to fill your life with hope, love and strength.

To the Escalanate family...Im sure each one of you and the times he spent with you brought amazing joy to his life. Seeing his children grow up and have their own families must have filled him with a sense of pride and accomplishment. All the successes in your lives made his life even more special. So, may beautiful times spent with your daddy alway be warmly remembered and live in your hearts forever and may you all live joyfully just as your daddy would have wanted.
