Helen Milburn Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Dec. 16 to Dec. 19, 2010.

MILBURN, Helen Margaret (nee Trant) BSc RN UBC December 26, 1914 - November 30, 2010 Passed peacefully at home on November 30th just shy of her 96th birthday with loving family in attendance. Born and raised in Vancouver, Helen was the youngest child and only daughter of Mary and William Trant. From the age of 6 months, her summers were spent on the coast at Soames Point. She and her husband Jack, (married for 63 years, deceased June 2004) decided to retire at this spot where they enjoyed a life full of family, friends, golf, bridge and traveling. Helen was a past member of P.E.O. and long time member of the Hopkins Branch of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. Helen was a warm and generous woman who was loved, adored and held in high esteem by her 3 children, Mary-Frances, Harry (wife Patsy) daughter Helen Jr. along with her 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Helen also leaves sister-in-law Mary-Alice, 4 nieces and 6 nephews. Her legacy to her grandchildren will be her welcoming smile, interest in their lives, sense of humour, fairness and acceptance of change, not to mention her famous chocolate chip cookies! Above all she treated everyone with dignity and judged no one. Helen will be missed by her loving family, her many friends and all those whose lives she touched. Her laughter will continue to ring in our hearts, be at peace... The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Bernstein and the wonderful Home Care providers who took great care of Helen. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2011. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, Hopkins Branch; Dystonia Research or a charity of your choice would be most appreciated.
