Helen Louise Prestipino

August 16, 1930 - March 15, 2025

Helen Louise Prestipino, age 94, passed away on March 15, 2025, after a long struggle with dementia. Her final years were spent full of good times in the homes of her three daughters, Angie, Jeannine and Roseanne.

Helen was born on August 16, 1930, in Hanover, PA, daughter of the late John and Anna (Krichten) Wagner. She graduated from St. Patrick's Academy in Washington, DC on June 8, 1949, and married Henry Prestipino on November 10, 1951. After graduation Helen began a fulfilling career with the Federal Government in Washington, DC, beginning at the Department of the Navy at the Pentagon and retiring from the Treasury Department as staff assistant to the Director of Economic Policy.

Helen loved to dance and listen to music, crochet, knit and sew and play bridge. She was an avid Redskins fan & loved going to the games and cheering them on (or booing them when she thought they deserved it). After retiring, she did volunteer work at Al- Anon, Cooke Elementary School library in Virginia Beach, Northern Virginia Community College library and the Virginia Aquarium. Helen loved her daughters and was a very devoted and supportive mother. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed visiting with them. Helen illuminated every room she entered, bringing smiles to every face, laughter to every voice, and love to the heart of everyone she touched. She was a gracious and loving woman and a source of inspiration to all who knew her.

Helen is survived by her children, Roseanne Prestipino and her partner Bruce Furman, Jeannine (David) Alexander and Angie (Chris) Maher; grandchildren Jacqueline (Bill) Rurak, Valerie (Travis) Neeley, Kyle (Becki) Alexander, Roslyn Alexander, Ethan Maher and Renee Maher; great grandchildren Caden Rurak, Callen Rurak, Mary Alexander, Colson Rurak, Delilah Alexander, Henry Alexander, and Helena Neeley. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Faust, sister-in-law Barbara Innes, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband (Henry Prestipino), her father-in-law (Joseph Prestipino), mother-in-law (Roseann Prestipino), brother (Burnell Wagner), twin sister (Rita Jansen), brothers-in-law (Frank and Joe Prestipino) and sister-in-law (Yolanda Kennedy).
