Theodotou Helen C. Theodotou, 89, of Upper Arlington, entered into rest Thursday, July 4, 2013. Born August 4, 1923 in Kansas City, she moved to Volos, Greece at a young age, returning at the end of WWII. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri on a Julliard Scholarship for music. In 1996 she received her Master's degree in Byzantine History from The Ohio State University and was at the time of her passing a Ph.D. Candidate. As a Byzantine Scholar she spent much of her personal time in her personal library reading and researching. She was the Founder of the Hellenic Heritage Foundation created in memory of her late husband who shared her love for history and culture. Above all, Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife and she was so very proud of her children's and grandchildren's accomplishments professionally and personally. She and her late husband, Dr. Chris Theodotou, led a full and wonderful life enjoying family, friends, many personal interests and hobbies as well as traveling the world. All of her family will dearly miss her sense of humor, her generosity and indomitable spirit. Helen was a member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Preceded in death by her husband Dr. Chris B. Theodotou, and parents Andrew and Pamela Valiatzas. Helen will be missed by her loving children, sons, Basil (Jill Bazeley) Theodotou, Andrew (Ann) Theodotou; and daughter, Pamela Theodotou; grandchildren, Justin Theodotou, Lea (Mark) Sullivan, Christian, Andrew, and Alex Theodotou; and sister, Alexandra Sperides. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 19, 11 a.m. at The Greek Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43215. Rev. Father Demetrios Gardikes, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Helen's memory to The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral Memorial Fund or the Hellenic Heritage Foundation, (in memory of Helen Theodotou) 1500 West Third Avenue, Suite 324, Columbus, Ohio 43212.
