Helena Black Obituary
Born in Elmhurst, daughter of the late Harold "Deck" and Elizabeth Cook Gorton, she was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and a member of Lake Ariel United Methodist Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Mercy Hospice for its compassionate care.
Also surviving are three sons, Jack Miller, Lake Ariel; Robert A. Black Jr. and wife, Nerissa, Lake Ariel; and Seneca Black, Bronx, N.Y.; five daughters, Shirley Kromko and husband, Tom, Waymart; Brenda Jones and husband, Mike, Blakely; Janet Tratthen and husband, Rich, Montdale; Sandy Smith and husband, Jim, Illinois; and Lisa Wright and husband, Bob, Tannersvillle; two sisters, Carolyn R. Birmelin, Lake Ariel; and Lillian A. Bird, Red Hill; 21 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, Route 296, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, with services by the Rev. Ted Faux. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may go to Lake Ariel United Methodist Church, 110 Maple Ave., Lake Ariel, PA 18436; or Mercy Hospice, 746 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, PA 18510.

My thoughts are with all of you through this. I have many great memories of all of us going back nearly 40 years and Helena will always be part of them. I will miss her as I know all of you do. Sorry I couldn't be there in person.
