Helene Seger

SEGER, HELENE Helene Rueffer Chase Seger, 88, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 surrounded by family. She was born in Evart, Michigan to the late Elma and Henry Rueffer and graduated from Evart High School in 1943. She was married to Donald Chase in 1946 and they lived together in Evart until his death in 1992. She later married Lyle Seger in 1999 and they continued to reside in Evart until his death in 2002. In 2007 she relocated to Grand Rapids, MI to be closer to many of her children and grandchildren. Helene was a pioneer in the business world, going to work at the Evart Products Company in the accounting department in 1954 until she retired after 28 years. In addition to raising her family of five children, she was an active member in the United Methodist Church in Evart. She enjoyed reading, round dancing and later, travel, working on her computer, cribbage and painting in water colors. Helene was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters as well as her two beloved husbands and two children, Barbara (Doug) Thorstenson of Big Rapids, Mi; and William (Colleen) Chase of Grand Rapids, MI. Helene is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Ed) Dugan of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Children: Steven (Laurie) Chase of Evart; Susan (Robert) Coussens; and James (Carrie) Chase both of Grand Rapids Michigan; Rebecca (Robert) Doll of Sarasota, Florida; Lorraine Seger of Ault, Colorado and Kathleen Thorstenson of Big Rapids, MI. Grandchildren: Lisa Swanton; Jay Coussens; Jeremy (Becky) Rich; Casey Rich; Corey Chase; Michael Chase; Matthew Chase; Kyle Chase (Coe Lacy); Jacob (Maria) Chase; Joel Thorstenson; Jeff (Chandra) Thorstenson; Jason Doll; Jennifer Doll; Mark, Hannah, Amia, and Australyia Thorstenson. And Great-grandchildren Andrew and Addison Thorstenson; Kaylin and Logan Gunneson; Liam and Cassidy Rich. A Memorial Service will be held at Corey Funeral Home, Evart, Michigan, Saturday, November 16th at 1:00 PM.
