Henry Arnold Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 2, 2025.
It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father on December 21, 2024.

His presence on this earth was a rare blessing. He had an infectious passion for life and experiencing new adventures especially after retirement, treasuring his travel with Jo Ann. There are so many stories that could be told.

Henry was born in Dothan, Alabama on November 12, 1945. At age 17, he joined the US Navy and was stationed in Pensacola, Fl where he met his future wife, Jo Ann.

From there, he attended The University of West Florida and continued to work for the U.S. Government as the Director of Civilian Payroll, DFAS.

He leaves behind the love of his life, wife of over 59 years , Jo Ann Arnold, three children, Tina (Bill) McKail, Kathy (Larry) Price, Anthony (Paige) Arnold, grandchildren, Tony (Melissa),Will, Wyatt, Ben (Stephanie), Audrey (Conner) Arabella(her mother, Leander),Jayden, Layla, and a great-granddaughter, Elianna.

Henry had a love for hobbies and keeping an active mind. He earned his contractor's license, built houses, volunteered for many years at St Anne's Catholic Church, planted gardens, dabbled in pottery, traveled around the US, raised many animals, enjoyed sailing, and was most often seen wearing t-shirts, shorts, and flip flops.

Henry was a friend to everyone. He had a special love for his family, gardening, dogs, and fried chicken.

Henry was much loved and will be greatly missed and remembered.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the animal rescue of your choice.

His Service will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. If attending the service, please arrive at Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home no later than 12:20 p.m. for the procession.

Henry was the most precious neighbor and friend. Dane and I will miss him so much. Such a kind and giving person and the best sense of humor! I teased him a lot about being the oldest person on our street and he had the best comebacks ever. One day in the spring there were lots of buzzards flying in the peanut field across from their house. I called and when JoAnn answered I asked if she knew where Henry was. I told her we were worried the buzzards were there for him. His reply was "No but I went outside to take a look and make sure!" Sadly we never thought he would be taken so soon. It´s so difficult to say goodbye to someone so special.!
Early on in our friendship, Henry took our scuppernong grapes and made wine!! A true long labor of love and friendship. So tonight, with our last bottle, exaggeratewe raise our glass and say a prayer that Henry is at peace and we will see him again when we reach our heavenly homeOur love and sympathy to JoAnn and the family.

My heart goes out to the Arnold family. I grew up with Kathy. Having not seen the family in over 40 years, I am not surprised to see the smile in his memorial photo. That is what I remember most about him. Always with a smile and welcoming me into their home. Lots of love and prayers!
