HENRY W. "HANK" GRAFF

Henry W. "Hank" Graff, 92, lifelong resident of Elgin, passed away on January 1, 2021 at the Vines at Countryside, in Elgin. He was born June 11, 1928 in Elgin the son of Henry G. and Violet Keller Graff. He attended Abby C. Wing Elementary School and was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1946. He proudly served in the Air Force as an Instructor earning the rank of Staff Sargent. Upon leaving the Air Force, Hank worked at Elgin Manufacturing Co. where he held a variety of positions. He spent most of his working career as a Mechanical Engineer and was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Hank was also a member of the Elgin Rifle Club serving as treasurer for many years, the American Legion Post 57 and the Loyal Order of Moose. He is survived by his caregiver and companion, Lois McDonough; his children, Thomas (Jill) Graff and Susan (Jay) Rager; grandchildren, Brandon (Tiana) Graff, Jared (Tayla) Graff and Alyssa Graff, Nicholas, Joshua and Amanda Rager; and his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Renly, Charlotte, Reese and Henry (Hank) Graff. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Marion L. Graff. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Vines Senior Homes for many years of love, care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Honor Flight organization at honorflight.org. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.
