1926 - 2015

Henry A. Hinrichsen, 89, of Elberta, AL passed away on Tuesday May 19th due to complications from pneumonia and a subsequent collapsed lung.

Henry was born in Chicago Illinois to parents, Henry C. Hinrichsen and Margaret Miseska Hinrichsen. He grew up in his father's Chicago butcher shop and spent the weekends in the country riding his horse and going to the lake to swim and fish. He enlisted into the Air Force at age 17 during World War II and achieved the rank of Corporal before he was honorably discharged in July of 1946. After WWII, Henry married Eileen M. Morrison and they had 4 children together. Henry worked as a Ready Mix Driver for Yard 1 of Material Service Corporation in downtown Chicago. He poured concreate for many of the Chicago landmarks including the John Hancock Center, Marina Towers and the Sears Tower. Henry was also an avid fisherman and spent many vacations and weekends fishing all over the US and Canada. He severed as president of the Illinois chapter of Salmon Unlimited fishing club for many years. Henry retired from Material Service after 35 years of service and moved to Elberta, AL where he has resided for 27 years. Henry will always be known for his quick smile, jokes and pranks he pulled on his family and friends; his love of big band music and dancing the "Jitter Bug"; and his enjoyment of a good mug of beer and a pizza. Every weekend would find him at the Eagles in Pensacola or one of the VFW or American Legion's in Foley dancing and enjoying the company of his friends. He will be missed by all of us that loved him.

Henry is survived by his four children; Henry A. Hinrichsen Jr., Patricia DeGregorio, Kathleen Gustafson, and Nanette Haraden. His former wife Eileen Hinrichsen, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and countless friends whose lives he has touched over his lifetime.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 12:30 PM Friday, May 22, 2015 at the funeral Home.
