Herbert PAPERMAN Obituary
Peacefully, at home, on Sunday, August 6, 2017, in his ninety-third year. Beloved husband of Leila Weinrauch for sixty-four years. Devoted and loving father and father-in-law of Joseph and Heather, Laurence and Kerry, Ross and Selena. Cherished grandfather of Bram, Evan, Jason and fiancée Steph Hops, and Stephanie; Noah, Josh and Daniel; Jarred, Ali and fiancé Joe Dubrovsky. Brother and brother-in-law of the late Sonia and the late Edward Levine; brother-in-law of the late Isobel and the late Bernard Berlin. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, family, friends, and all of those whose lives he touched. Special thanks to Helen, Sheena and Lady for their tender loving care. The family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to Dr. Ruby Friedman for his continued devotion and compassion, as well as to all the other doctors, nurses and staff at the Jewish General Hospital. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., Montreal, on Tuesday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Congregation Shaar Hashomayim Cemetery, 1250 ch. de la Forêt, Outremont. Shiva at 1 Wood Ave., Westmount. Contributions in his memory may be made to the "Herbert Paperman Memorial Fund" c/o Congregation Shaar Hashomayim, (514) 937-9471, or c/o Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors, (514) 343-3529 ext.: 7373.
Herby lived by the credo "The whole World is my country, every man is my brother, to do good is my religion."

To Joseph, Laurence and Ross and your families,
There is no man nor family that so touched the Montreal Jewish community as Herbert Paperman and the Paperman family. In our greatest moments of sorrow, there was always a Paperman present to preside over a difficult time with grace, dignity and compassion, and bring with it a needed level of comfort and order.
Now it is our individual and collective turn to pay our respects and express our appreciation.
Herbert was blessed with a loving wife, three great sons, and many grandchildren, family members and friends. I first knew Herbert Paperman as the father of my classmate Laurence, but only learned from my teenage years onward what a mensch he truly was. Apparently there was no good cause or deed or charity he would not support in both treasure and time. He never left the community wanting. Herbert Paperman was the ultimate stand-up guy.
May the blessing and memory of Herbert's long life serve as a foundation of comfort for you and your families, and a source of joy and inspiration in the years to come: A life well lived, well loved, admired by many, and leaving a long-lasting imprint on an entire community.

To Lawrence, Ross, Joseph and Family,
I first met your father when I was 18 on what was the saddest day of my life. I will always remember his compassion and his words of advice that i still try to follow.In the many times that I've met him since then ,both on happier and sad occasions, I continued to admire his sense of dignity, humour, and wisdom.
