Holly was an amazing girl. She touched my life in ways no one will ever know and I will treasure our friendship for life. I could always count on her for a laugh ... no matter what. She was such a happy person and no matter where she was she could always light up the room. She brought joy to the lives of everyone that was lucky enough to know her. Our friendship goes way back and the memories I have of all the things we did together, whether it was traveling with both of our families or hanging out just the two of us, are the memories I will hold in my heart forever. I kno in my heart she is in the best place she could be now, but I could not miss her more. There is so much I want to say and so much I wish I could have told her and somehow now I cant find the right words. Holly will always be an unforgettable friend and I will love and miss her always.
To the Smith Family: You are in my thoughts and prayers always. May God give you strength through this time and know you have the total love and support of us all. My deepest sympathies.

Dear Family of Holly Smith: I was so sorry to read of Holly's death. It is so difficult to lose a young person, and my heart aches for all of you. We lost our son five years ago from an infection contracted due to Chronic Granulomatous Disease. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have a daughter age 20, that doesn't have CDG, but I have a son Joey who is 13 and I couldn't imagine losing my children. My dearest friend, Bonnie just lost her son, Jason age 23 to CGD and we are heart broken. Everyday we wake up feeling blessed to have one more day with our children. If you ever want to vent/chat/email just do so please. Again, my heart goes out to you.

Dear Holly Smith family,
Although, I have never met your family I share in your mourning for Holly. I’ve been involved with chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) for 28 years and I know the devastation deaths have on CGD families.
The day before Holly died, Jason K, age 23 died in Philadelphia (I’d be glad to share their e-mail). There is a child who has been in the hospital 3 weeks with colitis and another young adult patient with colitis. So many CGD patients have either Crohn's disease or colitis. I read that Holly, along with her CGD, also suffered from Crohn’s disease. For many, it is a debilitating illness. I hope that Holly did not suffer much from this.
I have two sons that have CGD ages 24 and 28. Like, Holly and Jason’s passing, we never know when a serious illness will strike.
I’ve read so many wonderful words about Holly. I wish that I could have met her.
May God bless you during this terrible time of mourning. May He give you strength and peace.
Sincerely,
Mary Hurley

Holly,
It was fun being in Fiddler on the Roof with you my 9th grade year (your Senior year). You were a wonderful person and a friend. Being in Mrs. Clemente's study Hall was a blast. I am happy to have known you and spent time with you. I will miss you and I will never forget you.
Love always and forever,
Caitlin

My prayers go out to the Family and loved ones of Holly. Watching her grow up with my son Ryan Emmons, Holly's fellow classmate, was a pleasure. I also had Holly in VBS and Sunday School. I am deeply sadden at the loss of Holly. I also lost her mother Sue as a fellow friend and classmate nearly two decades ago. Holly will spend Christmas with Jesus and mom this year.

Dear Smith family,
No words can express our grief in losing a dear friend we had in Holly. Dana loved her as a sister. I pray the Lord has raised her to Heaven and she walks with the angels feeling no more pain or sickness and is surrounded by loved ones gone ahead of her. Our love and prayers are with you during this time and in the days to come.
In God's love,
Lori McCoy

Holly, I will never forget how special you were and knowing days you felt so sick you still wanted to keep up with college and have a career. You are an Angel now one of the best up there. Please look over Amber and Shane and your Aunt Penny. They love you and need you now more than ever. I will never forget you Holly.
