Dear Iva & Family,
It is with great sadness that we received the news of Homer's passing. How our hearts longed and prayed that he would be allowed to remain with us a while longer, but God, in His sovereignty has received Homer home to be with Him.
There is no way that I can fully express what an impact Homer had on my life. As a young man, in the providence of God, I had come to work on the James family farm. At that time I was far from God. The godly example of the James family became a tremendous witness to my life. They were the ones who took me to campmeeting with them and on the night I accepted Christ, Homer knelt beside me and was instrumental in leading me through to a wonderful salvation experience. Being near the same age, we spent much time together. He instilled the Word into my heart and help to disciple me to become strong in the Lord. Immediately, after my salvation experience I knew that God was calling me into full-time ministry. Over and over wherever I have ministered, I have shared the story of my salvation and the godly influence of Homer James and his family in my life. God has allowed me to lead other souls to Him...many who are also in full-time ministry here and in foreign lands. Any rewards that I will receive Homer will have a share in, as well. I owe so much to Homer...I shall always be grateful that God placed me in the James family during that period of my life.
Iva, our prayers are with you and your family. We know that life will never be the same for you without your beloved Homer, but underneath are the everlasting arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ruth, thank you for keeping us informed on a daily basis as to Homer's welfare during his time of illness.
Merril, thank you for those phone calls, for the prayer and faith that we were able to share together over the phone.
To all of the James family, may the comfort of the Holy Spirit comfort you as only He can do.
Anna and I love you all.

Dear Iva and Family,
I was surprised to learn of Homer's passing while watching CrossRoads (Huntley St.) last Tues. March 30th when Pastor David Mainse was talking about Homer with his legacy and a video clip of Homer and at the end their was a picture of Homer with a caption "with the LORD". David was telling his son, Ron, who is the president of CrossRoads that if it wasn't for Homer James leading him to the Lord in Ottawa back when they were about 16 yrs. that they would not have been here because his wife Norma Jean would not have married him unless he was a reborn Christian. David Mainse mentioned about him winning the National Talent Carivan - way back before they had Amer. or Cdn Idol and him travelling with the Billy Graham Crusades. I met David James and his beautiful wife and daughter for the first time last spring at the funeral reception of Jean Sprackett in Belleville. David looked alot like Homer. I'll be seeing Ruth Smith at Wesley Acres this summer, I have a trailer there too.
Well when you and Homer were leaving the wake for my Mom almost three years ago. Homer looked back in the hallway and said if he didn't see me in the near future that he would definitely see me later up there. So isn't it wonderful to know that he and we have the absolute assurance that we have eternal life with Jesus. It gives us such wonderful peace to know this. I didn't shed a tear for Mom because I knew that she didn't pass away or die but that she had passed ON to Glory - everlasting. So I hope you can all have this peace that passes all understanding and rest in the hope that we will all be together again.
Love in Christ,
Gwen Argue

Dear Iva and Family,
I just found out about Homer's "graduation to heaven" this evening during a phone call to Mother's sisters In Williamsburg. Although it has been ages since I have spoken with you, the memory of Homer's wonderful voice and his ministry in song remains indelible in my mind.
May you and your loved ones find strength and comfort in the days ahead as you share happy memories and anticipate the joy of reunion in heaven.
You are in my prayers.

We were very saddened when we received a phone call late on Friday night from our daughter, Lori telling us that she had seen on Facebook that Homer had passed away. Had we known sooner, we would have attended personally to pay our respects to a fine person who we have known and loved for a number of years. Homer sang at our wedding on July 20, 1951 and we were honoured and blessed to have had him share that occasion with us. Just today Cliff went through our long play records and is sitting here as I write looking at Homer's album "A SINGING HEART" on the cover is a picture of Homer as we knew and loved him. Within the last couple of weeks we went by your home and commented that things looked pretty quiet so you were probably in Florida. Never went by that we didn't think of you and the very fond memories we had made over the years. Homer was, not only a gifted singer, but a wonderful, christian gentlemen. Iva you and the family will miss him greatly and words are inadequate to express our sense of loss. May you feel the loving arms of God around you as you walk this road without the love of your life but knowing that God is always beside you. Our prayers are with you and the family at this time. Please accept our regrets for not paying our respects personally but know that we are keeping you in our prayers.

Dear Iva and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. The joy of knowing we will see our loved ones again brings comfort even as we grieve their loss from our midst.
I have many happy memories of listening to Homer sing during our ITL ministries

Dear Iva, David and Ruthanne,
What can I say. It's so difficult to express at a time like this one's true feelings. But I hold you all dear in my heart at this time. Though physically I'm far away but in prayer we are one. Homer was such an inspiration. I remember when David gave me one of Homer's "tapes" no CD's at the time...I played that tape till the ribbon burned out! I still have that Bible you all gave me one Christmas. I used to love going to the farm and get up with Homer and David and go milk those cows! I'll make a point in visiting when I'm in Ottawa this Fall. What a joy it must have been when Homer saw the face of His Saviour! Much love and prayers always, +Michel ([email protected])

Dear Mrs. James and family,
My wife & I first met nearly 30 years ago while attending the Youth group at Woodvale Church. Monique knew your family, & I got to know you, especially as the hosts of the annual summer corn boil/roast out at the farm.
I did not know Homer well, but over the years whenever we would bump into one another at local or church events, he was always a Gentleman. It was only recently that I became aware of his years with the BGEA and impact all over the world through that association.
He will be missed by his church family, by you , and all others who knew him, if only as an acquaintance.

Dear Iva and Family,
How sorry we were to hear of Homer’s passing but we know it will be a glorious celebration at his Homegoing Service. Wish we could be there!!
One of my first recollections of Homer was when he held me up on a chair at the Fifth Avenue Church at age 4. I sang “Let The Sunshine In”. That was the start of over 40 yrs. in church music. Every time I hear the song “The Wonder Of It All” I think of Homer.
Our prayers and thoughts have been and will be with all the family. I’m so thankful for my heritage and growing up in a Christian home. Praise God for those who helped me grow in my Christian faith, as Homer did. He touched my life and so many others.
What a day that will be when my Jesus I will see…
Love and Prayers,

I remember Homer singing with the Leighton Ford Crusade. I was a very little girl at the time and got his autograph. How special that was to this little girl! I most remember him singing "He's Everything to Me". That has always been a favorite of mine and I thank him for blessing so many of us with his voice and Love for our Saviour! I look forward to the day when I can hear him sing again! Oh what a day that will be when we will all be reunited with our loved ones who have gone on before us. Homer's family is in my prayers at this time!

Dear Mrs James and family,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you in the passing of Mr James. I will never forget the kindness that Mr James showed me growing up at Woodvale church and the amazing encouragement that he was to me with regards to my singing. The fact that he took the time to come over and talk to me when he had so many other people to visit with after the services, especially when I sang a solo, meant so much. I will never forget him and I know that right now in Heaven he is continuing to bless the saints with his amazing musical gift.
May Jesus be your comfort and strength in this difficult time. We love you.

Homer meant a lot to Jen and I. He always took the time to come and see how we were doing. His genuine love and encouragement made us feel special and loved.
He was an embodiement of God's love. A true reflection of what serving Christ should be. His example, wisdom and love are an example to all of us who had the honour of knowing him.

Iva and Family:
It is with great sadness that we learn of Homer's passing and offer our condolences. I recently received a CD of an early record and we enjoyed hearing his music once more.
I had the pleasure of serving with Homer on Woodvale's Church Board and have missed his friendly greetings after we left Ottawa. I know he will be deeply missed and know you will find comfort of the Lord's presence and in a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Mrs. James:
Mr. James was so special to me. He always took the time to give me a hug on a Sunday morning on his way down to his seat. He was soft spoken and loved the Lord. When he spoke about Jesus, we listened. He shared his passion for God with the next generation and for that we are forever thankful. Thinking of you at this time.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Ps 116:15. Dear Aunt Iva, David and Ruthanne and family.Uncle Homer is now singing with the angels. So one day we shall see him again. I will always remember Uncle Homer and Aunt Iva's sacrifice in prayer for Julianne, and I believe that is why she is alive today. Both of you saw us through the most difficult time in our life, so Uncle Homer is enjoying his reward today. I pray for peace and overwhelming love as we go on without him. Soon we will be together again.
