Hosmer B. "Snooky" Thompson

Hosmer B. "Snooky" Thompson Hosmer (Snooky) B. Thompson Jr. of Swanzey, NH passed peacefully from this life

surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 21 st in Keene, NH.

Born November 8 ,1934 in Keene, he was the son of the late Hosmer B. Thompson Sr.

and the late Catherine Thompson of Fitzwilliam, NH, where Snooky was raised.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Beverly (Abare) Thompson originally of

Troy, NH; his devoted sons and daughter-in-laws, Jeffrey (Annette) Thompson of

Marlborough, NH, Michael (Renee) Thompson of Swanzey, and Todd (Joelle)

Thompson of Swanzey; and several adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He

is also survived by his sister, Catherine Matson of Keene.

After graduating from Keene High School, Snooky proudly served his country as an MP

in the Army stationed in Alaska for 2 years. Upon completion of his service, he began

his 32-year career as a package truck and tractor trailer driver with UPS, retiring in

1992. Snooky and Bev then spent 18 fun filled years in The Villages, FL before

returning home to New Hampshire in 2014.

Snooky made friends around the world as a Ham radio operator and was always eager

to share his friends' stories with his family. An avid golfer, he could be found most

Sunday mornings at Bretwood Golf Course. Despite having 3 hole-in-ones over the

course of his life, Snooky's greatest golf achievement was finally convincing Bev to take

up the game while in the Villages. Together, they logged many a mile on their golf cart

while there. Snooky also enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing various

card games, but his first love was always Cribbage, and you had to be very sharp to

beat him. The family will forever cherish their memories of Snooky's life well lived.

A private service will be held at the family's convenience with internment at Mountain

View Cemetery in Swanzey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Monadnock Humane

Society.
