Hugh Cheshire Obituary

Hugh Dorsey Cheshire passed away September 1, 2011 in Longview, Washington at the age of 96. He was born in Perry, Florida to Albion and Ella Cheshire on November 6, 1914.

Hugh came to the northwest in 1936 looking for work and joined the Civilian Conservation corp. He met his future wife Ina Mae Farmer in Kelso, WA and they were married in 1942 just before joining the army and serving in WWII.

Hugh and Ina mae were lifetime members of the the Kelso Assembly of God. Hugh was a mechanic and kept the church buses in good repair until he retired and moved to Phoenix where he went to to the Assembly of God church in Phoenix.

Hugh worked for Weyerhaeuser company for 17 years and then went to Reynolds metal and remained until he was 65 years old and retired. Hugh accomplished whatever he set his mind to. He could weld, overhaul diesel and gasoline motors and he built three houses in the Longview and Kelso area. He had many friends and would lend a helping hand to anyone that asked.

Hugh is survived by his son and daughter in law Gary and Melody Cheshire of Longview, and four grand children, Derek Cheshire of Seattle, Marji Cheshire of Longview, Misti Gibbs of Longview and Michell of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hugh also had five great grand children Alex Cheshire, Reece Gibbs, Jaylyn Gibbs, Andre and David.
Hugh had many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Ina Mae in 1994 and a son Dennis Cheshire in 2007.

The family will not be having any services for Hugh locally, but will be laid to rest with his wife in the veterans cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona. They asked in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Hugh's memory to the Community Home Health and Hospice of Longview,1035 11th ave. Longview, Washington 98632, (360) 425-8510
