June 15, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta
Dr. Ian Ferguson of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Thursday, June 15, 2017.
He will be lovingly missed by daughters; Jaylene Wylie, Leslie (Paul) Dunn; son, Richard (Louise) Ferguson; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Zach) Rook, Elizabeth (Kyle) Wylie, PJ Dunn, Kelsey Dunn, Dr. Ian Ferguson, and Theodore Hires; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Taylor, Tanner, and Kadence Rook. He was predeceased by his wife, June; and daughter, Catherine (Tom) Hires.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at HERITAGE PARK HISTORICAL VILLAGE, Selkirk Grille (1900 Heritage Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
In living memory of Ian Ferguson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

For the rest of my life I will always be so thankful to such a great physician and friend. He did 3 serious operations on me and the last one was a 4 lb tumor, that was benign. He explained everything so well. When I had to have a hysterectomy and my husband was dead set against, Dr. Ferguson in a harsh voice told him there were 3 little children to consider and the consequences if it could not be done. He was the most kindness man I have ever met and one could talk to him about anything. I will never forget his kindness to me as a patient.

Saddened by your loss, Jaylene, Leslie and Richard. I have fond memories of your dad's gentleness and kind smile; back when we were all teens he treated me like part of the family. He will remain in the hearts of many.

My deepest condolences to all the family. Dr. Ferguson saved my life years ago and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here to day Was always grateful for his kindness, concern and a carrying specialist. May God be with you all at this time. My heart was saddened to hear this news and I know how much you all will miss him.
