Ila Jennings

Ila Joyce Fair Thomas Jennings, 73, widow of Earl Jennings and a resident of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, December 21, at her home in Somerset, Ky., under the loving care of her daughter after a brief illness.She was born in Liberty, Ky., on September 26, 1935 to the late Rev. and Mrs. George Orville Fair. Ila Joyce was united in marriage to Earl Jackson Jennings Sr. at York, South Carolina on March 17, 1956 and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2003.Ila is survived by her three children; Barry Kim Thomas (and his wife Priscilla) of Menifee, Calif., Bonita Joyce Jennings Kattan (and her husband Hisham) of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Earl Jackson Jennings, Jr. (and his wife Lisa) of Senitobia, Miss.; and her seven grandchildren, Andrea Nelson (and her husband Chris), David Thomas (and his wife Amy), Rakan Kattan, Bobby Thomas, Reem Kattan, Barrie Thomas Young (and her husband Mike), and Rayyan Kattan. Ila is also survived by three sisters, Dee Taylor, Mississippi, Corkey Waddle and Dixie Mayfield, both of Somerset, and numerous nieces and nephews.She was a member of Slate Branch Baptist Church. Ila worked extensively as an administrative assistant both in Saudi Arabia and the United States. She was the first female supervisor at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana as well as the only female employee of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Dhahran, Saudia Arabia. Special recognition is given to Ila’s church family as well as her dear friends and neighbors who made life so special and so much easier.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Lange and New Bros. Family Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Dawson officiating. A visitation was held Tuesday for friends and neighbors at Lange and New Bros.
