Iola Patricia Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 20, 2025.
Iola Patricia Moore Anderson, 84, beloved mother and cousin passed away on July 3rd, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pat was born on March 11, 1941 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was the only child of Robert Moore and Dorothy (Upperman) Moore. The family moved to the Bronx, NY when Pat was very young, and then to St. Albans, Queens, NY when she was 9. Pat graduated from Long Island City High School in Long Island City, NY in 1959. She received a nursing certificate and did private duty nursing before working at Bronx Lebanon, Lennox Hill, and Roosevelt Hospitals. Ultimately, Pat went to North Shore University Hospital (known then as LaGuardia Hospital) where she worked as a recovery room nurse assistant for 26 years. Pat was devoted to her profession and took great pride in the care she gave her patients. She was well known for her faithfulness to her work and colleagues. Pat also received a Certificate in Child Care from Manhattan Community College in 1998. Pat was a member of St. Albans The Martyr Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild.

Upon retiring Pat moved to Las Vegas where she lived for 25 years. During that time Pat worked in a day care center and as a Greeter at Tahiti Village. During her leisure time she took organ lessons which she greatly enjoyed. Pat was a devoted member of The Church at Las Vegas where Pastor John Racine and his wife, Lisa, lovingly minister to a compassionate and supportive congregation.

Pat was a faithful mother, cousin, aunt, friend and neighbor. She was always there to help and give joy and support in her own special way. Her independent spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Pat is survived by her son, Lawrence David Anderson, many cousins and countless friends whose lives she has touched. Pat will be missed more than any words could ever express.

There was a celebration of Pat's life on Sunday, July 20th, at The Church at Las Vegas, 3388 South Decatur Blvd, Las Vegas, NV at 12pm following the morning services.

An additional memorial celebration of Pat's life will be held in New York at a later date to be announced.

Donations in Pat's memory may be made to The Church at Las Vegas.
