Irene A. (Placek) Rajczak, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY died Sunday November 25, 2007 at home under the care of Niagara Hospice and surrounded by her family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 3, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Katherine (Stopera) Placek and attended local schools. She was a former member of the American Legion Portage Post Ladies Auxiliary #1465 and the Echo Club. Irene worked as a waitress and lastly as a seamstress at her daughter Phyllis’ Bridal Sweet Shop. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crafts, gardening, bowling and mostly enjoyed getting together with her family and having fun. She bought joy and love to those who knew her.She is survived by her sons: Edward (Marie) Rajczak - Elizabeth Myrtle of Niagara Falls, NY, Joseph (Terri) Rajczak of Scotia, NY; daughters: Phyllis (John) Mis, Vicki (Sam) Fasciano of Niagara Falls, NY and Barbara (Eugene) Pawlik of Lewiston, NY; sister, Emily Eliasz of Lewiston, NY; brother, Daniel (Pauline) Placek of Niagara Falls, NY; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and the love of her life, her toy fox terrier, Taco Bell. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Felix “Fizzy” Rajczak on December 30, 1979; her son, Andrew F. Rajczak, Sr.; daughters: Kathleen and Irene Rajczak and her brothers: Edward, Raymond and Theodore Placek.Friends may call Tuesday November 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Zajac Funeral Home, Inc., 319 - 24th St. corner of Welch Ave. in Niagara Falls, NY, where services will begin at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday November 28 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. from St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church, 24th and Niagara St., with the Rev. Slawomir Siok officiating. Burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc., 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.

I bowled with Irene years ago, and she is one unforgettable lady. She was always so much fun to be around, always making people laugh and keeping things lively. There was never a dull moment with Irene there. I honor the memory of this great woman, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family.
