Tony and MaryAnn Giesen
February 10, 2017
From Tony and Mary Ann Giesen, Our loss is heaven's gain. We will truly miss visiting our friend Irene, even in the last years when she was blind, we were always encouraged by her smile. She loved to hear updates of our adventures in Peru, which for this reason we are not able to attend her celebration of life, as we are in Peru. Irene loved to see us, and we loved to see her. When we lived in Moorefield and Irene was still mobile, we picked her up and drove around by Glen Allen, to reminisce on where she grew up, and drove her around our property. She loved to see the gardens and glowers and to keep abreast of what was going on in everyone's life. She loved home-grown tomatoes, which we brought at every opportunity. She appreciated everything done for her and all gifts, but her most precious gift was people. Irene loved people. Irene, we know you will be missed here on this earth, but we also know that you have a great eternal reward in heaven with Jesus. Will miss your jokes and your smile, but you will be catching up with Earl and all your loved ones in heaven. Until we meet again. Love you always. Tony and Mary Ann

On behalf of my mother Evelyn Gowing we wish to extend our sincere condolences to Aunt Irene's family. My Mom and Dad were very fond of Aunt Irene and when my father was alive spent many enjoyable meals together. Since moving my mother to the Maritimes 9 years ago, we have not seen Aunt Irene, other than the one visit to let her know we were moving Mom. She was a lovely lady and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Sincerely, Heather Longpre (daughter of Evelyn & Ellwyn Gowing)

On behalf of the Roy Goodwin Family, I would like to convey sincere sympathy to the Rickert Family on the loss of Irene. My mother, Grace (Gowing) was a first cousin of Irene. Irene was such a lovely lady.

To the Rickert family
Many years ago, I always enjoyed seeing Irene. She was always kind, fun loving, and happy to see me. She was a special person for sure and will be missed. You all have my sympathy.
