J. Kenneth Johnson, 88, passed away Tuesday February 21, 2017. He was born January 30, 1929 in Weatherford, TX to Roy Edward "Buck" Johnson and Mary Avis (Besse) Johnson. He was a 1947 graduate of Weatherford High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952. He attended North Texas State College graduating in 1956 and was active with GIX veteran's fraternity. He married Gwendolyn Ruth Ward on May 29, 1959 in Denton. Kenneth retired in 1985 after completing 30 years of service as a loan specialist with HUD. He enjoyed many years of retirement perusing his hobbies of clock repair, reading, gardening and fishing. Kenneth was also an avid supporter of his grandchildren attending thousands of ball games of all types, music events and school functions.
Kenneth is preceded in death by Gwen, his wife of 47 years and his 3 brothers, Douglas Merrion and Weldon. He is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Kim and Doug Reed and Tracy and Jeff Lindly, and his 6 grandchildren, Katie, Tyler, Kelly Jason, Joshua and Shelby.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Moore Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 10:00a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Moore Memorial Gardens.
