Jace Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 2, 2023.
November 13th, 2001 - April 29th, 2023

Jace was born to his mother, Anna Marie Bauer and his father, Eric Lance Davis on November 13th 2001. Even in the womb, Jace was pushing the boundaries of what was holding him back from exploring this beautiful world. Jace's love for animals and the outdoors was evident from day one. Always chasing bugs, lizards, hiking and adventuring at a young age.

On January 24th, 2006, Jace became a big brother to Ava Marie Davis. Jace couldn't be prouder of his sister and always made sure he was looking out for her. Ava's success has continued because of Jace's protection, persistence, and parental guidance he shared with her. Jace enjoyed nothing more than to brag about Ava's beauty, intelligence and accomplishments academically and athletically. He was her biggest fan and supporter along this successful journey of hers.

Jace grew up playing Football, Baseball, Basketball, Wrestling and hunting and fishing avidly. It's countless how many coaches of Jace are still among his primary friends, family, employer and loved ones. Jace had a draw about him, pushing boundaries but with a heart that no one could turn a head to and made an impression on everyone he met. Even through brief meetings, Jace could settle in immediately and build an everlasting relationship. Something that was only part of the Jace experience.

In 2008, Troy Robert Kussmaul came into Anna, Jace and Ava's life and immediately shared a bond of athletics and outdoors with Jace. Troy and Jace amounted countless hunting trips, both successful and un-successful and pushed themselves to the limits of their comfort zones to endure what nature could test and how they could overcome circumstances that also correlated to the challenges of life. Their weekends spent chasing adventure is part of what helped Jace and Troy raise each other. Setting up an avenue of focus and escape for Jace became a foundation of success through his later years.

At times growing up, Jace would challenge authority, but his amazing heart and soul would bring about a different conversation than otherwise would have been had. "He's a great kid and we love Jace" would be echoed almost daily throughout his life and many circumstances both tough and enjoyable. Jace's impression didn't leave, and he was spoken highly of and followed throughout the local area via Teachers, neighbors and members of the community.

In 2015, Kade Robert Kussmaul was born to Anna and Troy and immediately became a staple of Jace's life. Kade was a pivotal point of Jace moving from Son, to 3rd parent type in the household. Jace took on any task without question and was a pillar of the family while everyone ran hard with sports, work, Tahoe, hunting, fishing, traveling, and living life to its fullest, every day. Jace was not shy in his love and admiration for his little brother. Making sure he got to the "secret spot" fishing whenever possible and challenged him in all his sports so he would be setup for success, just like Ava. They were "bestest buddies" that shared hours and hours of fun, competition and love.

In 2020 Jace was hired on at BME Electrical Construction, owned and ran by Barry and Sasha McGraw and reported to what became an incredibly special friend in Terry Ritchey. This step in Jace's life was another all-in experience where Jace made sure he was going to be successful, along with everyone around him. He quickly learned the trade and made it into the Apprenticeship program. But he was also going to have a good time with his career, working to share laughs and make sure everyone was safe and looked out for, just like he did in every aspect of his life.

Of all things mentioned, there is one thing Jace cared about above and beyond anything in the world. Jace's love for his mother. It wasn't a normal bond, they spoke like friends and there wasn't a day that went by where Jace didn't inquire about Anna's day and what was going on in her life. He made sure she never needed a hand because he was always there. Their glow and laugh resonated throughout the home and was impossible to miss. Jace also shared the same with his Grandma Rose. Checking in, talking football, discussing life.

Jace loved hanging out with friends. He made sure to support them and check in on them no matter where they were in life. Helping many through life changing situations and keeping up to support and care for them. He would go visit them while at school and then catch up for lost time when they were back in town. Up to his last night on earth, he was just hanging out, sharing laughs and trying to build memories.

Words can never describe the number of lives Jace touched and the hole that has been left in this world.

Jace Anthony Davis is survived by his Mother Anna, Father Eric, Step-Father Troy, Sister Ava, Brother Kade, Grandmother Rose, Grandfather Steve, Great Uncle Bruce, Aunt Shelly, Aunt Theresa, Uncle Michael, Aunt Hollie, Grandmother Pamela, Grandfather Bob, his beloved Black Lab River and countless friends and community members.

I have many many wonderful memories of Jace. He truly was SPECIAL; from toddler to young man. Jace had a loving caring heart and the world needs more like him. I wish I was making some fudge for him. When he came to visit; just before my big hug, he would ask "Grandma have you got fudge". He always told me "Grandma your the best cook ever". From an early age Jace would try any food (mussels, sushi, chocolate bugs-you name it).

I will never ever stop loving and missing Jace. He brought joy to my life always until the time he passed. You could tell from an early age just how special he was.

I had friends visiting the same weekend I had Jace. The couple visiting never wanted any kids. At the end of their visit they said "more people would have kids if they thought they would get one like Jace".

There is a huge void in my life since Jace passed. I will never stop loving and missing him. I pray I will see him again some day. That song; "Just one more day" says it all. I would give anything to see him again.

I truly have many many wonderful memories of Jace. But, an early example of who he was and who he would become is this--He was about 6 years old and I took him fishing at Scott´s Flat in Nevada City. I felt bad we didn´t catch anything and he said, "it´s okay Grandma, you taught me how to cast so it was a good day". (What six year old talks like that?). I was always able "to feel" Jace´s love. He brought me so much joy during his life; from toddler until the time he passed. Jace was just SPECIAL. He was My Happy Place. I will never stop loving and missing him. I pray I meet him again someday.

It hurts so bad. This poem is from an unknown author.
The moments that I knew you had died, my heart split in two. The one side filled with memories, the other died with you.
I often lay awake at night, when the world is fast asleep, I take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheek.
Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday. But, missing you is a heartache that never goes away.
I hold you tightly within my heart, and there you will remain. Life has gone on without you but it will never be the same.
For those who still have their children, treat them with tender care. You can´t imagine the emptiness as when you turn and they´re not there.

I miss you so much. Grandma Rose
You were truly my happy place. A wonderful young man.

Grandma McKinleys Poem for Jace
Your smile was so, so big, bright and beautiful; much like your joyful kind spirit so complete
The good memories are bountiful and grand; they make us miss you even more. They do bring us happiness and sustain our grief for brief moments
We miss your laughter, your love and hugs that you so freely gave. A heart so big it overwhelmed us and grew our love everlasting
We will grieve for our loss in all our days to come, but we will find comfort in knowing you would help us if you could
Nature will be missing the wonder of you. Butterflies will pass by and carry us for a brief moment to a place where grief won't follow
There will never be another like you; no one to disagree. You were special from your first day to your last; that we can attest
We have trouble making sense of our great loss. Why we
ask--no answer will be gotten. Maybe heaven needed a cheerleaders loving soul. We shall never no the why.
Though we weep for you and feel a sorrow so deep; our hearts are filled with love for you that will never lessen and will always be kept safe
Let us go through daily life rejoicing in your goodness. Remembering the shared joy, love and laughter. Let us get comfort from your peace and the legacy you left behind. Wherever you were was "a happy place".

NO GRANDMA COULD LOVE HER GRANDSON MORE! THERE WAS NO ONE LIKE YOU. IF THE WORLD HAD MORE OF YOU WE WOULD ALL BE LIVING IN A BETTER PLACE.

Jace was 4 yes old playing Old Maid with G & G. He held the Old Maid up high in his hand "trust me Grandpa, trust me-you want this one". He has always, always been an enjoyable character. Jace will be big in my heart forever. Grandma McKinley

If there were more people like Jace in the world, we would all be living in a better place. He was so good to his Grandma and to everyone. To say he will be missed is an understatement of how I feel. Grandma Rose

I met Jace about 2 years ago when my son in law, Terry Richey, asked Jace to help with our move to Martinez.

At first, I was worried about this young guy being responsible for moving things I had been collecting for years and really cared about. He sure proved me wrong.

His work ethic was unbelievable. Not only was he responsible but took on the role of keeping an eye on the older guy Terry had recruited to help, making sure the guy padded and loaded things carefully.

It took a few days to complete the move and I quickly learned what a great kid Jace was and how much he loved his family as he mentioned them often.

I can´t tell you how often when we were moving things he would tell me how his Mom would like this or that or when I would talk his ear off and he"d say, "Yeh, my Mom says that or does that."

I got to see Jace often after that as we moved across the street from my daughter and son in law, Terry. Terry and Jace were close and Jace was there often.

If it hadn´t been for the move, I may never have got to know this sweet kid.

I am so sorry for this great loss! I am a new teacher at College Park. I have been so touched by this extremely well written tribute. I didn´t know him, but I have a son as well and feel your deep pain. I will pray for your family.

Jace was 6 years old and Grandma took him fishing. At the end of our adventure he said, "it´s ok Grandma, you taught me how to cast, so it was a good day". Jace was my happy place and I loved him with all of my heart. There will never be another quite like him.

Jace was my nephew and the closest thing I had to my own child. He was everything that was said and so much more to so many people. There just are no words to truly describe how devastating the loss of his life is. He loved unconditionally and that love and energy will be with me always....
