Jack Hemstreet Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 24 to Dec. 25, 2020.
Jack G. Hemstreet, age 93, of Clare, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Medilodge of Clare. Jack was born the son of George and Mary (Gerow) Hemstreet on Dec. 13, 1927 in Sheridan Twp. of Clare County. He had married Romagne Perry on April 20, 1946 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2017. Jack had retired from Consumer’s Energy as a Gas Executive. He had lived his entire life in the Clare Area and had attended the Clare Congregational Church when he was younger. Jack had golfed with the Monday Night Men’s League at Twin Elm’s ( Now Firefly Golf Links) . He loved his horses. Jack made an annual excursion west to hunt Antelope and Mule Deer and when he was no longer able to keep up, he volunteered to become the Camp Cook and did so for several years. When asked for a word that described her dad, Sheila said “Socializer”! Jack is survived by his children, Donald (Guy) Hemstreet of Cathedral City, Ca., Cindy Mayes of Mt. Pleasant, Jack Hemstreet of Haslett, and Sheila Hemstreet of Clare. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Rachel, his parents, and his siblings, Inez, Gladys, Threace, Robert, and Gerald. The family plans to celebrate his life with a formal memorial service in the Summer of 2021, as Covid-19 allows. The family was assisted by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home where an online condolence register will be available at www.stephenson-wyman.com
