Jack Northrop, 97, of rural Arlington, Iowa, died peacefully at home on Friday evening, March 4, 2022.
Memorial Service: 6:00 P.M. Monday, March 14, 2022, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Arlington, with Pastor Dave Meyer officiating.
Visitation: 4:30 to 6:00 P.M. Monday, March 14, 2022, at the funeral home.
Military Service by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard & the Arlington American Legion.
Final Resting Place: Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington, Iowa.
A Memorial Fund has been established for Palmer Gunderson Hospice.
Condolences may be directed to 9343 Dogwood Road, Arlington, Iowa 50606.
John Dwight Northrop was born on January 12, 1925, one mile south of Arlington, Iowa, the son of James William & Lena Marie (Eppler) Northrop. Jack and his family moved to the farm where Jack lived his life when he was 4 years old in 1929. Jack graduated from Arlington High School in the class of 1943. Jack honorable served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. Following his military service, he returned to the family farm, farming with his brother, Al, and the Nus family for many years. Jack enjoyed fishing, playing cards and mowing his lawn.
Jack is survived by a host of friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Alvin & William and 2 sisters: Kathleen Kearney & Ione Northrop.

Enjoyed every visit I had with Jack always learned something new about his past and Arlingtons past! Great guy I will sure miss him and our visits!
