JACK HARRISON
Jack Harrison Rector, the founder of an insurance agency bearing his name, died Friday, June 18, 2004 at his home. He was born February 7, 1927 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the son of the late John H. Rector and Maude Nern Rector. Mr. Rector graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1945, was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted in the United States Army in June 1944 and was on active duty from June 1945 until his honorable discharge November 6, 1946. He was a private pilot, an insurance agent in Parkersburg and Morgantown, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he retired in March of 2004. He was a member of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh from 1968 to 1978, a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, a life member of the Elks Lodge No. 198, Parkersburg, West Virginia, Professional Business Agents Association, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Chartiers Country Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene R. Rouse, and a granddaughter, Dana M. Baer. He is survived by his wife, Dolly Abrams Rector, a daughter, Teri Rector of Grapevine, Texas, stepdaughters, Susan Alice Wagner, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Patricia Lynne Baer (Mrs. David), of Pittsburgh, and grandchildren, Graham Hill, Patrick D. Baer, and Lisa K. Baer. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday, June 21, 2004, at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SVC., 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 10 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church, in the chapel, 2040 Washington Rd., Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania 15241, with the Rev. Dr. Stuart Broberg officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a Memorial Service in June 22, 2004, at 2:30 pm at the First Baptist Church, 813 Market Street, Parkersburg, West Virginia and/or to a Graveside Service at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens, Parkersburg, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Family Hospice & Palliative Care at 250 Mt. Lebanon Blvd., Suite 203, Pittsburgh, PA 15234.

Jack was a dear friend. We will miss his endearing smile and funny stories. We will always remember the "cheap wine" joke between us and all the little walkie toys we helped him collect! His death has left a void in our lives, as well as that of his family and friends. We will miss him when we come home and for always.
