Jacob Atwell Obituary
He was born on Jan. 6, 1951, in Butler, and was the son of the late J. Clinton and Catherine N. "Casey" (Nicholas) Atwell.
Jake attended Butler High School and graduated from Greenbrier Military School. He was a Vietnam U.S. Marine veteran.
He worked at Logan Candy Company for 23 years, worked for 13 years at Mikan Motors, and most recently retired from Butler Farm Market.
Jake enjoyed bowling, golfing and riding motorcycles, on which he traveled over 100 thousand miles.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Donna F. (Sloan) Atwell of Renfrew; his sister, Catherine (Ric) Gresh of Irvine, Calif.; his two nephews, Tyler and Jamie Gresh; and one niece, Michel Hansotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
ATWELL - Friends of Jacob Clinton Atwell, who died Monday, May 8, 2023, will be received from noon until the time of service at 3 p.m. Friday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Alyce Weaver Dunn officiating.
Military honors will follow the service.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any veteran organization of the donor's choice.

While only being a neighbor to Jake for a year we had many good conversations. My first recollection of meeting Jake, we were assisting the moving company workers placing our furniture in our new to us home. I heard a mower in the front lawn. I went out to investigate and Jakes kind response was, "I know you are too busy to cut grass so I thought I should do it for you."
This was the man we became fond of, the Jake that we knew. Bill

It takes time to learn to live without a loved one. The sadness is can be deep and painful and only time seems to ease the sadness and then the good memories can emerge and make you smile. There's a saying: Don't be sad it's over, be glad it happened. Easier said than done. We are here for you, Donna, right next door.
