Jacqueline Garlock Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 11, 2025.
With a heart filled with love, Jacqueline Garlock passed away peacefully in her home on 28 February 2025 at the young age of 78 years. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Known for her creativity, cleverness, and unwavering kindness, Jacqueline touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed.

Born in Portsmouth, England in October 1946, Jacqueline and her Mum and Dad immigrated to the United States of America in November 1957. They were a family of three, carrying only a few precious items (a key, a locket, a pound in their pockets) and a dream in their hearts. Ultimately the family landed in Westchester, California where she graduated from high school, did some modeling, and took acting classes. Jacqueline married twice and had seven dear children. In 1979, Jacqueline and her family moved to Oceanside, California where she lived out the rest of her life. Above all, she loved her family and put her faith in God - "Always Trust in God."

So who was Jacqueline and how can you possibly wrap someone's life into a few mere paragraphs.... Impossible! This certainly will not do her justice, but will be a heartfelt attempt to capture her vivacious personality, passions, and whimsical nature. Of course, those that have been touched by her will smile in recognition as they read through this very short tribute and reflect on her life imprint.

Jacqueline had a passion that kindled hope and imparted a magic that opened infinite possibilities. She loved and appreciated the simple things - the outdoors, the ocean, art, music, singing, laughing, cooking, and walking. She used to walk 7 miles a day, one mile for each of her children. She fondly became known as the walking lady of Oceanside. As her mobility declined she took up other interests to include crafting, writing, drawing, and enjoying various television shows (Monk, Matlock, Mama's Family, Beaver, The Nanny, her nightly lifetime movie...). There was nothing she couldn't do when she put her mind to it....tree removal (as she said, we all remember that), wall papering, painting, and entertaining at her Dad's senior center. She was cleaver and quirky. She loved her car washes, glasses, gloves, paper plates, and a good Pall Mall Gold. She supported and defended her family and always made you smile with her witty humor when you were down in the dumps. She spoke the Queen's English and used words like rubbish, buggered-up, miffed, mad money, and TTFN.... She relished the holidays and birthdays. She deeply loved her grandchildren and was also a very proud great-grandmother. "Nanny" or "Nanniers" always had some extra "pocket money" for her grandchildren.

Most importantly, we must remember that those we have loved live on within us. Jacqueline is part of all whom she touched and will resonate in our hearts, laughs, and stories for generations to come.

"A hint of immortality awaits those who live lives of love...."

So for now I'll end with "See Ya Mom!"

With the greatest love and utmost respect....

We love you Mom!

I have known my cousin Jacky almost all her life. She was a lovely young girl and her genuine warmth and kindness continued throughout her life. Sadly I lost contact with her for many years and missed a large part of her life but still heard about her on occasion from her parents. Happily we regained contact some years ago and corresponded and spoke on the phone. My wife Sliv met Jacky´s parents about 30 years ago in England and subsequently had contact also with Jacky. They both hit it off immediately. We will both miss her so very much. RIP dear Jacky.
With love forever, Graham and Sliv xxx

Jacqueline was a long time client and friend. I have known her since 1980 when I moved to Vista. She loved her children with all her heart. She was a very kind and loving friend. I will miss her. I know she thought that she drove me crazy sometimes because she was a bit fanatical about her hair. I knew she couldn't help it. I love her and miss her. Lynn Sprankles

Jacky, you were a very special lady, I know we always had that connection that came from being so close when we were very young! We saw each other a few times over the years, when you returned to England and when I came to LA passing through from New Zealand, and the two things I will always remember most about you are; your smile, and your wonderful sense of humour! With much love to you, rest in peace.

Mama,

I love you so much. On the last day we spoke I asked you if you knew how much I loved you and you said, "as big as the whole wide world." I'll never forget that. Thank you so much for trusting me to take care of you. I could never love any one as I loved you. My life will never be the same.

See you soon Mama,

Love always A

Dear Mummy, May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sunshine warm upon your face. May the rains fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand. Love, H
