Jacqueline Halverson
LINCOLN - Jacqueline J. Halverson, 73, Lincoln, formerly of Burlington, died Feb. 3, 2009, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, with her loving husband of 51 years at her side. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. Interment will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
There will be no reviewal however, family and friends are invited to sign a register book from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Jacqueline was born July 26, 1935, in Groveton, N.H., to Leonard and Lila (Alger) Potter. She was raised in Lancaster and Groveton, where she received her education at Lancaster High School.
Jackie met her future husband, Roger Halverson Sr., while he was stationed with the Air Force at Westover AFB, Mass., and she was employed as a factory worker in the garment industry in Holyoke, Mass. They were united in marriage on Nov. 8, 1957, in Holyoke. Jacqueline and Roger made their life in the military for the early part of their marriage, traveling and living in various states across the U.S. including Wyoming, Michigan, and North Dakota. After retiring from the Air Force they made their home in Burlington in 1976. They moved to Lincoln in 2007. Jacqueline was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burlington, and a past member of the Minot Retired Military Auxiliary.
Jackie enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and could most often be found sitting in her chair watching her "programs" on television. She never missed her soap operas, and had an internal timer that told her when Nancy Grace was on TV. As her health declined, she was unable to do the grocery shopping or meal preparations, but no magazine or newspaper was spared from her clipping coupons and recipes. It was well known in the family that once she got a hold of a magazine, there would not be much left of it when she was done. As far as magazines go, Jackie was a long-time fan of the National Enquirer. She believed it to be true if she read it in the Enquirer. She passed her love of gossip magazines on to her daughter, Karyn, and granddaughter, Dawn. She loved to wear red and was never fully dressed without earrings, lipstick, nail polish and a broach. We love you and will always miss you.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Roger, Lincoln; her daughter, Karyn (Robert) Fetch, Bismarck; her sons, Roger Halverson Jr., Burlington, and Randy Halverson, Minot; her grandchildren, Dawn (Steve) Braus, Stephanie Kihlstrom, Michael Kihlstrom and Michelle Kihlstrom, all of Bismarck, Kyrstien Halverson, Texas, Hailey Fine, Minot, and Mariah Halverson, Wisconsin; one great-grandchild, Trelynn Mallum, Bismarck; two Sisters; Charlene Potter, Lois Potter and Edna Crandall, all of Lancaster, N.H.; her sister-in-law, Faye (Marvin) Laugsand, Bottineau; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her infant brother, Reginald; her sisters, Wanita and Evelyn; her nieces, Dorothy and Judy; and her nephew, Ronnie.
