Richard Sneed Obituary

Richard Floyd Sneed died Saturday October 6, 2018. He was born to Dr. A. G. Sneed and Lorine Monzingo Sneed July 23, 1937. He graduated from Denison High School and attended Baylor University.

He was stationed in Germany with the U. S. Army from1960 – 1963. Upon his discharge from the Army, he went to work for K-Mart. He managed stores in North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Mississippi and Puerto Rico. Following his years with K-Mart he served as General Manager of George Young Toyota in Corpus Christi. In the 1990s he received both a bachelor and a master's degree from Corpus Christi University. He taught in the Mathis school district and served as a vice-principal and a principal in Mathis, Whitesboro and Scurry-Rosser school districts.

He married Linda Young October 29, 1977 in Corpus Christi. Upon retiring he and Linda made their home in Denison where he was active in the Rotary Club and other civic activities in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Edmund D. Sneed and his wife, Linda.
He is survived by his niece, Susan Alexander and her husband Russ of Pampa, Texas; nephew, David Sneed and his wife Diantha of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are two great-nephews, Michael Alexander and Hayden Sneed; two great nieces Madeline Sneed and Alison Cuellar; and sister-in-law, Ann Sneed of Houston, Texas.

Visitation will be Thursday at 9:30 at Waples Memorial United Methodist Church with the funeral service at 10:30. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
