MOUNT PLEASANT " Jakie L. Parrott, 74, of Mount Pleasant, a retired pharmacist, died at his home Sunday, July, 31, 2005.
Born Aug. 25, 1930, in Lamar, he was the son of Jakie Lemmuel Parrott Sr. and Minnie Berry Parrott. A graduate of Wofford College, he received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina. Mr. Parrott was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant, having served as a former chairman of the deacons, a member of the church choir and also as a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Gideon™s and of Toastmasters. A man of many talents, he was also an artist.
He is survived by his wife, Delila Wilson Parrott; son, Jacob Leon Parrott of Ashburn, Va.; stepson, Bert Christopher of Florence; two stepdaughters, Joan Nix of Columbia and June Christopher of Summerville; three cousins, Essie Cammer of James Island, Laura Blanchard of Sullivan™s Island and Clyde Berry of Moncks Corner; and six grandchildren, Jonathan Jay Arden Argoe Jr., Ray Mattison Nix Jr., Laney Elizabeth Parrott, Ruth Marie Parrott, Sarah Margaret Parrott and Olivia Catherine Nix.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at First Baptist Church, 681 McCants Drive, Mount Pleasant. Burial will be 5 p.m. at Lamar Cemetery, Lamar.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 681 McCants Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Chapel is serving the Parrott family. Condolences may be sent to the family via e-mail to www.mcalistersmith.com.
