Mr. Jalen Mason Jones

Mr. Jalen Jamar Mason Jones, 29, of Sylvan Avenue, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 31, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. Mr. Mason Jones was born April 12, 1993, in Waterbury, a son to Feaster Jones Jr. and Anetrice Mason both of Waterbury. "Jay" or "Mase" as he was affectionately called, was educated in the Connecticut Public School System where he attended Torrington Middle School before relocating back to Waterbury where he also attended Crosby High School. While at Crosby, he played football for the Bulldogs before transferring to Wilby High School where he graduated, Class of 2011. Jalen worked in various capacities in and around the Hartford and Waterbury areas. He attended Mount Olive AME Zion Church where he sung in both, the Youth and Men's choirs. In his youth and teenage years, he would volunteer as a landscaper, keeping yards clean. "Jay" was an absolutely phenomenal drawer and artist. He received an award from the City of Waterbury for participating in a drawing contest on bullying that was held at Kingsbury Elementary School. He enjoyed playing and watching sports but his favorites were football, basketball and playing on his Xbox. "Mase" loved Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce and would put it on almost anything he ate. Jalen loved his daughter Jayla more than anything else. She was his twin and the apple of his eye. Jalen was charming, funny and kind hearted. We will miss him dearly. Besides his parents, he leaves to cherish his memories one daughter; Jayla Janel Mason-Jones of CT, siblings; Stefani Mason-Kee, Dillen Mason-Dye, Craig Smith II, Adrieonna Fisher and stepsister; Dominique Dildy all of CT, maternal grandfather; Walter "Earl" Knight, maternal aunt; Kimberly Mason, maternal great aunt; Annie M. Knight, paternal aunt; Kellene Jones Chatfield, one niece; Azzariah Mason a host of cousins extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother; Susan Mason-Knight and paternal grandparents; Feaster and Gloria Jones Sr.
