Kathy,
Jimmy will always have a warm place in our hearts. He was so generous and always willing to help out. It didn't matter what it was. One memory that comes to mind was from our Pop Warner days with your family. Jimmy had said he'd try to give the snack bar for Pop Warner at the high school an overhaul. Well, as always it was more like an extreme make over. He had everything in there he could think of from counters to a new stove and so much more. Always thought of others and what he could do to help.
We will cherish those memories, his warm smile and all that he meant to so many in this community. Love The Woerdemans (Jay,Jill,Joseph&Joshua)

Jim was a neighbor, friend and brother within our family unit when we were all younger and living on Maple Street, back in the 60’s.
I have many fond memories of Jim and his family and Mr. Jenks, another neighbor, who kept all us kids busy and out of mischief by allowing us to play horseshoes in his yard and who sponsored tournaments that actually made the local papers. Jim was a winner and made Mr. Jenks proud and all us kids envious of Jim’s horseshoe throwing ability.
As we all grew older, the neighborhoods kids slowly drifted from each other, either by moving away, going to college, getting married or just moving onto other things. I was one who moved away to a career and Jim was one who stayed and built his own career here as a successful home building contractor.
Recently, I moved back and within one week, Jim was at my doorstep and picked me up and gave me a great big bear hug and welcomed me back. We talked for hours about many things of our past and things going on in the present and he showed me the home he was building off head of the Bay Rd.
Jim told me about his father’s tragic passing away a few years back and was very saddened but also very proud of him as a father and as his role model.
Jim told me he made a granite bench and installed it at the Buzzards Bay beach in memory of his father for his family, friends or anybody who just wanted to sit on it and look at the water and pass time. Jim told me he would often go there and sit and think of his father, it gave him great comfort and a chance to reflect on things and how blessed his life had been with his family and friends.
Jim, you will be greatly missed by all who’ve had a chance to know you and we will all remember your great smile.
My deepest sympathy goes out to you Kathleen and your children, Scott, Jenner and Jesse and sisters Kathleen and Mary and brothers Thomas and Jeffery and Mother Elaine and the whole Oliver family and all the nephews and nieces in the family.
I pray that God will bless you and give you some peace, understanding and comfort through this tragedy and loss.
If there is anything I can do to help any of you in any way, please do not hesitate and let me know.

Dear Burgess family,
You don't know me and I don't know you, however, I'm the woman that found Mr. Burgess. The fact that I don't know him doesn't diminish the deep sadness I feel. My thoughts and prayers are with you during such a difficult time. I still walk there with my dog 2x's a day and I stop and pray for his peace and family. I will always pray for his peace.

Jim was such a great guy, always a smile on his face and taking a moment to talk, even when he was busy. Any time I saw him he asked about my Mom (...Dad passed away in 2006) and he genuinely cared about people. He will be missed, but always remembered. Thoughts, prayers & condolences to Kathy, the kids, family & friends.

Mr. Burgess was deeply loved and admired by his family, friends, and community. Being his neighbor for 22 years, I was lucky enough to have known him, and to always see his welcoming warm smile. I will never forget riding my bike down the kay's driveway, falling off my bike and skinning my stomach on rocks. Immediately Mr. Burgess rushed over, picked me up and carried me to my house. He was a great man, and will forever be in my memories. I have only kind words for him. He will be missed now and forever.

Kathy, Scott, Jenna & Jesse,
I am heart broken for you and I can find no words to express my deep, deep sympathy. Jim's smile was always so infectious and it was just a pleasure to be around him at the rink or the ball field. He will be remembered as the caring and cheerful gentleman that we knew.
I am praying for your healing and your search for peace in this very difficult time. If there was only something more that we could do for you to take away your pain. Prayers I am offering, the source of strength.
With love,
