JAMES CROZIER Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 26, 2017.
CROZIER JAMES ALLEN, MD
James Allen Crozier, MD, 68, of Brighton Twp. passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Thursday, October 19, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family following a long and hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Born January 16, 1949, in Rochester, he was a son of David J. Crozier, Sr. and the late Marjorie Helsing Crozier. A Rochester High School graduate, Jim continued onto Geneva College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. His pursuit of a medical degree took him to Hahnemann School of Medicine and University of Pittsburgh's Magee Women's Hospital where as a clinical assistant, he performed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Crozier delivered over 10,000 babies at Heritage Valley, formerly the Medical Center, Beaver and Ellwood City Hospital, and served as the Medical Center Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1989 through 1991. During Dr. Crozier's 40-year career, he became known as an excellent surgeon and brilliant diagnostician. This reputation brought him back to Magee as a resident mentor, where as a professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, he shared his four decades of practical experience and knowledge with his medical students. An effective and beloved educator, he was recognized as Teacher of the Year by his residents at Magee. Friends and colleagues will fondly remember Jim as a conscientious businessman with a strong will, quick wit, keen intelligence, and unparalleled love of family. He will be missed by all. In addition to his father David, Jim is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 41 years, Victoria O'Connor Crozier; his son, James Allen Crozier, Jr.; his daughter, Kiersten O'Connor (Matthew) Leonard; his cherished grandson, Jameson Garrett Leonard; one brother, David Jack (Connie) Crozier, Jr.; a sister, Christina (Mark) Chervenick; two brothers- in-law, Tom (Jane) Peluso and Trevor (Jill) Peluso; and his nieces, nephew, grandniece and grandnephews who will always remember him as loving, funny, and crazy Uncle Jim. As per Jim's request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service, conducted by Reverend Jeffrey Arnold, will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 252 College Ave., Beaver, Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 1 p.m. NOLL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 333 Third St., Beaver is handling all arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 252 College Avenue, Beaver, PA 15009 or the Pancreatic Cancer Association. The family would like to thank Dr. Prendergast, Dr. Ferri, Dr. Zeh, and Leslie and Kimmy with Catholic Hospice for the compassionate care given Jim.

I too recently found out that Dr. Crozier passed away. He was the first dr. that I had ever seen as a young girl and he always made me feel at ease with his wit and humor. I had no idea who to even go to, so I found him locally when he had an office with Tri-State in Ellwood City. Then he had relocated to Wexford so I followed him there, then when his office was near Vanport. I had to stop seeing him when the Highmark UPMC thing happened and I was not happy . I am so sad to hear of his passing. A funny memory I have of him is when I went in to see him after a year, and I had admitted that I had put on some extra weight which I blamed on the new dunkin donuts next to my workplace. I crawled up on the table for my stomach exam and he joked that he could feel a chocolate glazed donut over here and a twist donut over there. I was totally cracking up!!! He will be missed. He was such a kind man. My deepest sympathies to his family, I am so, so sorry for your loss.

I recently found out that Dr. Crozier had passed away last fall. He had been my doctor for almost 40 years and had delivered my son.

He always put me at ease and made me laugh! I had great confidence in his skills as a physician.

My sympathies to his wife and family as they mourn his loss. My prayers for God's comfort and strength as time passes.

My dearest wishes of condolence go out to all family members of Jim. I knew his parents and brother Dave as well as sister Chirstina when I was attending Geneva College with Jim.
He has always been in my thoughts and I was so sorry to learn of his suffering prior to his passing.
My thoughts now are with all of you who lost him.
Sincere thoughts and God be with you all.

I wish to express my deepest condolences to Dr. Croziers family. I worked for Dr. Jim in the Chippewa office. I found him to be an excellent doctor, fair with his employees, considerate, compassionate with a dry sense of humor. I consider it an honor to have worked for him. He will be greatly missed.
