Emilie and Mrs. Deterding, although I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Deterding, I felt a connection to him through the stories Emilie would tell and that she reported he would chuckle when she told him a Baptist friend was praying for him. May the Holy Spirit comfort you during this time of loss and may you also be comforted by your memories of his life well lived.

Mrs. Deterding, Emilie and Chris,

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Deterding's passing. I will always remember his smiling face, soft voice, his kindness, and the wonderfully sweet 'tolerance' of a couple teenage girls just having fun whenever I visited at you home in Amberly. He was a courageous man who always thought of family first. He will be missed so very much. My prayers are with you all. With love, Joanne
