James Doyle McIntosh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2024.
James Doyle McIntosh was born in Fort Worth, Texas, August 16, 1971, to Doyle and Evelyn McIntosh. He and his three older siblings grew up in the Smithfield-Colleyville area of Northeast Tarrant County. He resided in North Richland Hills, and passed into heaven on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at age 52.

As a young boy, James accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was a member of North Richland Hills Baptist Church (now Cross Church) and throughout his growing-up years was active in youth events, choir, mission trips and church-rec programs. As an adult he served as part of the church's volunteer security detail. He was known for his exceptional kindness, compassion, "big smile" and genuine care for others.

He graduated from Richland High School, where he played football and other sports, as well as being part of the school choir program. He also attended Oklahoma Baptist University.

James married his sweetheart, Julie in 1995. They have a daughter, Brooke and a delightful granddaughter, Opal. One of his proudest moments was when he became a "Papaw." He and Julie shared many cruise trips and other travels, never tiring of the same itinerary because their enjoyment was "just being together." It was the journey, not the destination that he treasured. He cherished Julie, Brooke and Opal - his three girls.

James was all about family and was much loved by all. Never to miss a family event or special milestone, his humor and joyful spirit was what everyone looked forward to seeing and sharing together. He generously gave of his time and attention, always pouring of himself into the next generation. "Uncle James" made each person feel important, encouraged and special.

James enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing on grandparents'--and now cousins' ranch land in Erath County. He delighted in sharing adventures with others "at the ranch." He could fix anything and was the "go to" for whatever was broke or in-need of repair; most often it was just lending an ear for a late-night chat with a nephew, niece or friend.

He is survived by his wife, Julie, daughter Brooke and granddaughter Opal; mother, Evelyn McIntosh; sister, Janice Callaway (husband Jay); brothers Joe (wife Roxanna) and Johnny (wife Gene); parents-in-law Gordon and Lora Lea Nelson; brother-in-law Gil Nelson (wife Leslie); sister-in-law Sheria Walker; 16 nieces and nephews, 23 great-nieces and great-nephews, many cousins and a host of close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Doyle McIntosh; grandparents Fred and Opal Keith; and Clifford and Annie McIntosh.

A Celebration of Life is set for 2pm Friday, July 19 at Cross Church NRH, 6955 Blvd 26, North Richland Hills, TX. 76180. Visitation will follow service.

When I was eleven years old, I got to hold my first ever newborn baby-James! He has always been special to me, almost like a baby brother. Our families carpooled together and did many church events together, and my heart is so full of those beautiful memories. James, enjoy your time with our Heavenly Father. We will see you there!

I have such fond memories of James! Every summer we looked forward to coming to Texas from Arizona to spend time with the McIntosh family at their Smithfield home! I can remember in August of 1971 when he was born! So many good times through the years! I loved his sense of humor, he could always make me laugh! He will be greatly missed!
This is a photo of James, Janice and I celebrating our birthdays together in Tennessee! Precious memories!
