DWYER _ James Patrick 1929 - 2003 James (Jim) Patrick Dwyer of Burlington, ON passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter in Calgary after a five month struggle with cancer on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the age of 74 years. Jim followed his father into a career in transportation, the first eighteen years with the Canadian Pacific Railway, and then almost twenty years with John Deere Limited. After retiring from John Deere he spent fifteen happy years with Laidlaw. This work enabled Jim and Sheela to spend their summers at their cottage "Highbanks" on the Otonabee River near Peterborough. Their children and grandchildren have many great memories of happy times on the river. Besides his loving wife of forty-six years, Sheela, Jim is also survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen and Vim, and Betty and Phil; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Michelle. Jim was also the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren, Tommy, Eric, Stuart and Mercedes deHaas, Patrick, Ian, Kevin and Bennett Mitchell, all of Calgary, and Emma and Aidan Dwyer of Burlington, ON. Jim was predeceased by his sister Virginia of Burlington and his brother Tim of Seattle, WA. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Laundry Funeral Home in Eganville, ON on the evening of Sunday, May 4, 2003. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church in Eganville on Monday, May 5, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Please join us in a celebration of Jim's Life at his son's home in Burlington (1901 Kern's Road) on Saturday, May 10, 2003 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. To e-mail expressions of sympathy: [email protected] subject heading: Jim Dwyer.
