James W. Ellsworth

James William Ellsworth, age 86, of Buffalo and Winter Haven, Florida, died on October 27, 2007, after a long illness. James retired from the International Paper Company in North Tonawanda and Maine. He was a WW II Army Veteran and served in the 499FA Armored Division as a Tank Sgt. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. James was a former North Tonawanda City Alderman, and served the on Niagara County Health Board. He was a bowler, hunter, and avid golfer. Husband of the late Winifred (nee Brownlee); brother of the late Lucy Loveless and Walter L. Ellsworth. Beloved husband of Ann M. (nee Giardina) Ellsworth of Buffalo; loving father of Judy K (Michael) Bykowski of Lockport; dear step-father of Dianne (Frank Sr.) Puma of Buffalo and William (Barbara) Stankwick of Winter Haven, Florida; proud grandfather of Amy (Dean) Churpita, Michael Racki, Michael J. Bykowski, Frank (Kim) Puma, Jr., Denise (Aaron) Rowe, William III, Andrew, Anthony, and Alicia Stankwick; great-grandfather of Collin and Ella Churpita, Jack and Ava Rowe, Sophia and Nicholas Puma and Willow Stankwick; also survived by a sister-in-law, Rita Ellsworth; and several nieces and nephews. Friends received by the family on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Brunner Funeral Home (692-3841), 156 Robinson Street, North Tonawanda, where memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM. Interment at Elmlawn Cemetery will be private. Flowers are declined. The family asks that memorials be made to Hospice Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, New York 14227.
