James J. Goetchius

Mr. James J. Goetchius, age 63, of Lewiston, NY, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, after a brief illness Mr. Goetchius was born in Chester, PA on June 17, 1944. He was the son of the late John and Rose (Stack) Goetchius.Jim was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School in 1962 and Canisius College in 1967. He was employed by Praxair as a programmer analyst for 39 years, retiring due to ill health in 2003. He was retained as a consultant since his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, Lewiston, NY.Jim was an avid reader who enjoyed reading science fiction and books on aviation. He liked to travel to Las Vegas, where he was fascinated with the excitement of the lights and entertainment.He is survived by his wife of 37 years, the former Joyce A. Gorenflo; a sister, Frances (Gary) Wilkinsin of Colorado Springs, CO and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Goetchius and a sister, Jane Goetchius.The family will be present on Sunday 4-8 PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, Lewiston, Cayuga and Ninth Streets, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, May 5th, with Rev. Sebastian C. Pierro officiating. Entombment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
