James Hesketh

James Hesketh was born in Manchester, England on January 10, 1922 and passed away peacefully on January 30 at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock B.C. Jim joined the Royal Air Force at the age of 17 and was soon transferred to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan as a mechanic on Spitfires. It was in Moose Jaw that he met his wife, Nellie (nee Patterson). During World War II Jim and Nellie returned to England and had two sons, Jim and Steve. In 1952 the family moved to Canada and settled in East Vancouver, while there they had four more sons; Robin, Ted, Terry and Dan. Jim was employed with Ault & Wiborg printing inks which later became BASF Inmont. He retired in 1987 as the western regional manager. In 1967 Jim and his family moved to White Rock. Jim's retirement included; daily walks along the White Rock waterfront, fishing trips to Campbell River and many wonderful times with his six sons and their families. Jim is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nellie and his six sons; Jim (Connie) from Campbell River, Steve (Jo-ann) from Sydney, Robin (Nardene) from Langley, Ted from Steveston, Terry (Bonnie) from Langley and Dan (Bonita) from Birch Bay. He will be missed by his grandchildren; Rob, Lee, Sadie, Michael, Ryan, Taryn, Camille, Jonathan, Krista, Jeff, Martell and Trevor and great-grandchildren; Wyatt, Roddie-Lee, Hannah, Quade, Adam, Chantelle, Izzy and Gabi. The Hesketh family would like to thank the many friends for their encouragement and support over the past three weeks while Jim valiantly battled lung cancer. The Hesketh family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the sixth floor of the Peace Arch Hospital for their understanding, patience and dedication.
